Maybe you were thinking about Texas and the hurrican Ike? Maybe a few cactus sticking out of the water would give it a more surreal look But I like what you've done, great job

Hmm, cacti...that's an interesting idea. I was actually thinking of tsunami training stuff that goes on here on the Oregon Coast Driving down Hwy 101 there's signs depicting when you're entering or leaving a tsunami zone, and signs showing the evacuation routes.

That would be a good idea too

Other than having perspective issues with all the different photos, it's relatively well done.

I'm always open to suggestions on how to improve my work. I don't necessarily implement them immediately into the suggested piece (I'm lazy that way, lol), but I always take that advice and use it when applicable in later pieces. The perspective is intentionally a little off to add to the surreality, but is there some part in particular that seems off to you? I would love to have your input.

The checkerboard floor gives it away (conflicting perspectives) Maybe have some photos have the matching perspective to fit it all together. You said your intent was to help with the surreal effect, so maybe it doesn't need any work

Actually, do you think it's the ivy on the ground instead of the checkerboard floor? I did try to get the floor to match up with the water and thought I'd done ok with that, but I wasn't too happy with the ivy. I was tired of trying to find stock, so instead of looking for ivy with the same perspective, I created my own and tried to give it the proper perspective. I don't think it worked too well though

no you matched to ivy to the floor. I don't see that as a problem. The angle of the photo of the girl and puppy is off kilter in comparison. It appears the girl photo was taken at almost eye level, but the floor was taken looking down. I think that is what does it.

Hmm...I think I kind of see what you're talking about. The way I see it when I look at it though makes sense in my head (except for the darn ivy, lol). Maybe my perspective is just off kilter Anyway, the way it appears to me is that the floor draws your eye to the ocean, and then all the little floating things in the distance draw your eye farther back, but the girl in the front is the main focus so you're brought back to her...Heck, I don't know. It's been soooo long since I've taken any art classes. I'm really not that great with technical things like perspective, lighting, reflections, and shadows. Everything I've learned has mostly been through observation of others' art (as well as real life) and trial and error.

Just trying to help. It's still a very well put together piece.

I really appreciate it. I don't run across too many people who are willing or able to offer suggestions, so it's refreshing to hear what others think about my work and how I can improve it.

Thanks Sarah! Yes, I somehow managed to come up with quite a few ideas and was able to implement them even. I've had the opportunity to play with several different styles, which was loads of fun.
