Ahhh, yes. Snowpocalypse 2014. Still remember this picture someone took of I-285 the next day. It look like the opening Atlanta episode of the walking Dead. Plus Marta was crazy that day, there were to fires! Crazy times, crazy times.

You must live in that part of the country where a little snow paralyses everything.

lol, we had like 6 inches down here near Parry. We couldn't leave the house for 3 days cause we have a really steep drive way. Sadly my mom didn't get to see any of it.

I am so thankful I have a job that is more flexable. I could have been trapped on 75 near 285 but luckily I left as soon as I saw the snow coming down and only had a 35 min commute. I still haven't driven anywhere because in Cobb a lot of the side roads still have ice.

I work for a company that sets up emergency repairs and tows for semi trucks and man that evening was a nightmare. We had one stranded driver without heat who was freezing to death and contacted the police to see how best to get him some heat only to be told he needed to call 911 immediately to get on the list. Such a nightmare.

Thankfully this made me giggle which eases a bit of that crazy weather pain. <3 Frozen

our friend didn't have heat in her car either; and she was in it for 16+ hours. Called 911, local shelters- everything we could think of. And in the end, she just had to sit.

How'd it get so bad; I saw pictures and I didn't see much snow....... then again I am from Buffalo so anything less than a foot is a light powdering.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AllisonSohn In reply to thewookie1 [2014-01-31 15:57:15 +0000 UTC]

the bad was less about the weather and more about some poor calls made by the government. No one cancelled schools or un-necesary work until the snow had already begun coming down. Then EVERYTHING was closed at the same time. So commuters that normally hit the highways at staggered times (anywhere from 4-7pm) all were on the roads at the same time. Add to that all the school buses and parents that would have normally been home, instead getting in cars to pick kids up from school- our roads were never meant to hold that many people all at once. So the traffic was as much about the sheer volume of cars as it was about the ice they drove on.

Wow, sounds chaotic. I seriously hope your area now knows how to handle such a situation in the future.

I did this for Kelly Dale; she was in her car for 18 hours (more or less) and her heater didn't work. I feel so awful for all of you that were trapped due to some bad calls by the powers that be!
