Description
Watch this: [link]Earlier this year, I came across ULTRAMAN: TOWARDS THE FUTURE (aka ULTRAMAN GREAT), both the infamous SNES game and TV series. Needless to say, the game is kinda sucky, and the series is rather cool, especially in the special effects department.
But I finally decided to do some fan art of it about a month ago, and got it colored at last.
I don't really know why, but I absolutely LOVE this monster design. It's two monsters in one!

I love this! I wonder if you can ever continue this, I wouldn't Β mind seeing degola, Majaba, zebokun, kilazee, or koladar, or gudis, gudis II, and barrangas!Β
I like the series, even the infamous SNES game!Β
But you did an AWESOME job!Β

I remember that show. One of the two Ultraman series made outside Japan. The first being the Hanna Barbera animated film. I think I still have the Bogun figure somewhere in my room.

Am I the only one wishing Great should have been in the "Ultraman Fighting Evolution" game series?

Correction: that IS his wang.
Yes, Bogun is so manly, Captain Winky is a f**kin' carnivorous dinosaur.
Oh myyyyyy.
(But really, the design, in my opinion, is kinda like a Mosasaur and Plesiosaur fused together - take away the lower head, you have a an upright monster; take away the upper head, you have a belly-dragger monster.)

Ultraman Great needs more love.
I hated how he, Powered and the Ultra Force (Scott, Chuck and Beth) got punked in Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends The Movie.
I look forward to his Ultra Act figure.

One of the early episodes of Game Grumps, they played the Ultraman SNES game, and Bogun was the second enemy. They were unable to stop laughing at how bizarre he looked, and when they noticed he had to drag himself to move, combined with the second head growing out of his crotch, they assumed he was deathly ill and in tremendous pain. oh ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho SUH-WEET! I remember this. It was THIS show that got me into the tokusatsu franchise. Mainly the Henshin Heroes genre. And this was before I even HEARD of Kamen Rider or Power Rangers. And this pic is WAY more epic than that scene from the show. VERY good job.

Fantastic! God knows Ultraman Towards The Future or Ultraman Great as it's called in Japan doesn't get nearly enough love. This series was also my first exposure to Ultraman in general and remains my favorite to this day.
Thank you for making this.

I never thought I'd wake up this morning to come across Bogun fan art!
"Ultraman Towards the Future" was my first real exposure to the Ultra franchise, and the series remains a favorite of mine to this day, largely due to its more serious minded nature, sometime impressive effects, interesting monsters, and large story feel punctuated further with the truly epic soundtrack.

I tried that Ultra-game once, got my 32-bit posterior kicked for a couple minutes, and ragequit with nary a look back. That figure-series and Towards the Future itself, on the other hand, went a long way toward whetting my kiddie kaiju fix before Trendmasters had their run at Godzilla & friends. Heck, I've still got an 8" Gerukadon figure to complement a recently-acquired handful of Bandais.
Anyhow, hellish as trying to move anywhere may have been for the Bogun suit's actor(s??), that design made for one gloriously freaky figure & antagonist alike. Kudos for a retro-callback that remains delightfully fresh.

The game is a lot easier than the 2 Ultraman fighting games that this game was based on Ultraman and Ultraseven are way harder. Heck I never beat the Ultraseven one. If you are interested in them you can watch Game Center CX try to beat them It's a funny little japanese show where a guy in his late 30's plays nintendo games haha.

Never said I was a good gamer, did I? But seriously, I'll have to Google those episodes up when time allows. Thanks for the alert.
Random aside: you don't happen to recall the U.S. comic series that tied into Great? That patch of four-color mayhem was my primary frame of Gudis visual reference for years.

Yeah I got both series. The one 3 part where Gudis unleashes a monster army and then you have the 2 part series where Gudis makes a Blue Ultraman Great from a batman/croc wannabe guy.

So THAT's what the second multi-parter was about. That preview page in the first series had me scratching my head for ages. Gotta say, Gudis' whole viral-possession schtick & supervillain-style egomania makes for one unique recurring kaijudom-antagonist.

Oh my little nerd heart leaps with joy! Bogun was always one of my favorite monsters from the series. Little known fact, original sketches of the monster had the heads reversed. Which I just do not see being as effect as they way they were in the series. Awesome-sauce job though!
