made the star brighter

hello again. this is definately something different from my usual works. its the first time i'm doing a star, and a special star that is. its the most massive star discovered to date. did this today in about 5 hours of photoshop cs5. as a first time, i'm pleased with the way this came out. i apologise though for the low quality of the star itself.

Description

R136a1 is the most massive and most luminous star discovered to date. weighing in at a wopping 265 solar masses and having a luminosity 8.7 million times that of the sun, it pushes us to rework our models of stellar formation and evolution. it is located in the R136 super star cluster in the tarantula nebula, located in the large magellanic cloud, which is a satelite galaxy of our own milky way galaxy.
stars this large are said to not form by the conventional process of star formation, but by the merging of multiple stars to form one larger one. this star is classified as a super-luminous hyper-giant star, and when stars this large die, they go out with a bang, a very big one that is. the explosion is so massive that they are not called super novae, but instead hyper hovae.
all in all, this is a massive star, but for all we know, they may be even more massive stars out there, waiting to be discovered.

I believe I was the one who requested that you create this absolutely mind-blowing titan of the universe. Truly remarkable the way you designed it. You even managed to throw in, what looks like, a2 or a3 on the right side of the image which are huge in size, bigger than Jupiter, and you pulled off the scale. The exact size of this scaled creation is quite exact.

For what is dubbed the most Luminous star in the known universe, you managed to pull off a bright creation of the star. It is a blue-flame colour, as you've portrayed. You also managed to pull off a few solar flares, and I love the semi-loop towards the top left of the R in R136a1.

It is hard to get the entirety of the galaxy in such a piece. This is what the galaxy looks like around R136a1: R136 . I kind of expected the deep space background to have a bit more, but I can only imagine how hard it must be to add it into a scaled piece of art.

I searched up other R136a1 deviations, and yours is by far the most creative and original. Good work, and look forward to seeing some more of your own ideas of super-stars like R136a1. Your creative mind is endless!

Let me just say that this is awesome. You're space art is absolutely beautiful and this is no exception. These pictures always try, and succeed (in my opinion) to capture the awesome beauty and wonder of the universe and of our very own galaxy.

As a personal science statement, as I love cosmology and astronomy, I was confused by your description at the mention "largest star known so far." NML Cygni currently holds that title at 1'650 solar masses, but then I saw that you elaborated that this was "the most luminous star known so far," which I had no idea.

As an artist perspective, the vision you tried to portray: the greatness and wonder of one of the most powerful engines in the universe, was spot on. The only problem I have with it is that I wish you'd make it brighter and immense. Even when it's the dominant object in the entire picture, it doesn't seem ... dominant enough. That's only a half star lost from me though through vision and impact. Even with this problem, the art is still absolutely wonderful.

For the rest, the beauty and glory of space is clearly advertised and for that, I give the full five stars for originality and technique.

In summery: I absolutely love this piece. I hope you make more like it in the future.

I must point out that you are mistaken in your first scientific statement. I did not say that the star is the largest star discovered, I said that it is the most massive star discovered. mass and size are two separate terms. and you are right that nml cygni is the largest star discovered, but you are confusing it's radius for it's mass. nml cygni has a radius of ,1,650 solar radii, not a mass of 1,650 solar masses, just thought i'd correct that little error.

as for the brightness of the star, I didn't want to make it too bright, but it could be a bit brighter.

i'm planning to redo this one soon and I also assure you that they will be more to come..
