Description This is actually a remake of an older map that came up in a discussion over at a forum I frequent. With the help of a linguist and a native Turk, the idea was threshed out.

Basically, instead of the US purchasing the Louisiana Territory, the Ottoman Empire does. This results in some crazy stuff, like different immigrations.

Well, I'm pretty sure I wasn't born into this world.

This would make an interesting time line.

Was this partly inspired by Thomas Jefferson's proposal for the state boundaries? [link]

I wonder how the patterns of immigration and settlement occurred in this universe?

Who gave the Texans support? And shouldn't Canada be a Confederation? All very clever, of course, and I would find it fascinating to know about the demographics of the immigrants. I can see it becoming de facto independent like Egypt under the Mamluks, though some of the tribes might make good strong bases, in which peace pipes are the norm and firewater banned. Do you remember why each area got their specific name?

About Canada, the semantic are a little complex. Though the word Confederation was bandied about a lot, the resulting country was actually more centralized than the USA. The official name of "Dominion of Canada". The term was used to describe Canada's position within the British Empire; independent of the British parliament but with the British Monarchy still as head of state.

I like looking at these maps and imagining that I grew up in the same area so it's weird to see myself as a Saratogan from the COA.

Waitaminute, did the US get New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island? Looks like that from here. Very... odd. Cool. Many other words.
