Description Allium stellatum, the Prairie Onion or Autumn Onion, is native to prairies and dry hills from Ontario, Michigan and Illinois to Saskatchewan, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Texas. The bulbs are edible.

The species name 'stellatum' means star-like, and in fact, those little pink flower stars are amazing. In my picture, you can see them leaning on the large, dark-green leaves of a Scilla peruviana.
