Description
So, my first ever piece of abstract (finished). Cataclysm was kinda abstract except it deviated since i couldn't do anything, i suckedso yeah i manipulated the original render a lot, then brushed it up...
Hope you enjoy, if you have hints, tips, tutorials, please say
Will probably delete this at some point, since it's just experimentation and is crap
Stats..
Render property of i accept no credit for the base render. you can find it [link] there, so you can see what i've done with it.
1hour (yeah experimentation, i'm learning).

ow, pointy.
this's kinda cool, but it's sortof confusing too. I can't really decide what I think is happening. is it an exploding ship? is it that some comet or something came and is smashing into a bunch of stuff? but eh, you said it was abstract so I'll go with that and make up my own mind I guess.
I guess it does seem a little too much like you were actually working towards something for it to be abstract, but hey, I never did get the whole "abstract" thing.
anyway, nice chair rail, stair case, house in space exposion thingy.

possibly make the render a bit more clear, and show sum effect from the beam. the beams gr8, don't get me wrong there, but an explosion lights up stuff, which just isn't happening. looks cool, just lacks that lil real element.

thanks again dude

That's awsome, the only thing I see it that it could use some softening up here and there, but that's pretty much it.

not bad not at all ju needs to be darkened up a lil... specially by the begining of the explosion other than that great job!

I think the render is a little choppy. And the image is burnt to much in some places. Gj though

it's ok, specially for your first time.
i would say you need to put some bigger shapes in as well as color, this one is just black an white, and it looks boring!
some red and yellow fog would have been cool, as well as some other colors to make it looks more alive.
i'll try to find some good examples for ya.

Looks good to me. By even doing this, you're far ahead of me! I've tried to do abstracts too, but they sucked too much so I deleted them. But I think you'll get the hang of it pretty quick.
Keep it up!

hey you're experimenting like i do with this space stuff. nice work... a bit dark, but that creates a good atmosphere.

Very beautiful, though I agree with ~RyJek, it seems a bit too bright. Just a *taaad* bit Other than that, I love noticing the very cool details of the explosion, the shadows of the blown pieces. As a matter of fact, nearly all the deviations of your's that I've seen have always been "explosive" visually. Does that mirror your personality? hehe

alyn, just a little question....is everything that you try that good? it looks really amazing, especially if you are somehow new to abstract art.
I think the render is a bit chaotic, but the overall pic looks quite fine

lol i'm not good at everything i do, my main strengths lie in terragen, space, and photomanipulation (once my site is released, you'll see what i'm talking about ) - abstract is just something i'm learning, and i'm only "good" at it since the 2d is very similar to space art brushing, so it's just application of knowledge. Similarly how i can enhance renders with texture overlays using photomanip knowledge

if you look on my homepage, there is a picture (2d gallery) called "the second door" there I enhanced renders with textures too. well, most of it is photoshop work anyway and some photo manips will be there too, a friend of mine just needs to talk to her photograph to let me set them online
ok, actually this thread is about YOUR work and this is well done

Not bad at all for your first try. Your brushing is great, because you have been doing space art, but there are a few things that you need to look at. The render looks very jaggy, and some of the colours are not pleasent to look at. Also, you should try your hand at 2d. Check out some of +ekud 's works if you haven't done so already, and if you want to keep making abstracts. Dark abstracts are good, but it is still better when you can make out the render, and it is more clear.
Good work, and I wish you all the best

alyn In reply to Abstractionist [2004-02-29 20:18:59 +0000 UTC]
thanks for your constructive input the render isn't my own (as said in description), but is a render resource. I am aware of ekud yup
and i agree on the colours comment, i guess that's the result of some excessive blending, something i hope to improve on in future efforts. But thanks again!

Abstractionist In reply to alyn [2004-02-29 20:22:06 +0000 UTC]
Hehe, yes, I was aware that the render wasn't your own. And the over blending might be the 'cause of some of the jaggyness.

It's not bad. It's something new from you, and it's a good thing to experiment. Maybe the light is too much but that is just a matter of taste.

Whaaaaaaat..Alyn..Abstract!? Hmm.. Not too bad for a "first" try. However, that big bright ass light..doesn't extend far enough into the image to be that bright. Try less umm Brilliance lol.. and if its gonna be that bright it's gonna illuminate some shit right,? Unless you've placed the light directly in the middle of a black hole which is your area not mine Great first job though..just remember..the brush is your friend..the brush is your friend.. wOOtzors to alyn playin around in abstract
