Description

BECOME MY ENCOURAGER!

This guy has come a long way as a character. From a half-naked wild creature and hitman with an episodic role he has evolved into a full-fledged protagonist of his own story, revolutionist and patriot on whom the fate of his people depends.
I can’t believe that it all started almost ten years ago. Do you remember at what stage of his evolution you joined me?

Being honest, this sketch happened spontaneously. All artists who took part in one art event were going to receive some free goodies, among which was the option of a stickers sheet with individual content. I badly wanted to have stickers with my own characters, so I started to fill the given template with more or less suitable things that I managed to find among my artwork (next time I'll be smarter and will start drawing something fresh specifically for a new stickers sheet in advance).
I colored several old pencil sketches, including the scrap of Alejo's theoretical design drawn in January 2021    . And it seemed to me that the result thing turned out decent enough for posting it after working a bit more on the decoration.

I didn't pursue the goal of making a qualified portrait out of that scribble. Fairly saying, the result piece isn't finished and it could be improved later, even could be turned into a full illustration someday. But not today, because the condition of my back doesn't let me spend much time sitting at the desk. At least, I'm glad that my drawing skill doesn’t seem to stand still, and I also have a picture of Alejo's design relevant for the plot, finally.

Now I'll duplicate the earlier shared information on him here.
/I know that describing details of his body doesn't make much sense while there's no new full reference yet, but I'm sharing it together with everything else still. Maybe mostly for the people who already know this character and who are going to get the sense of the changes even without a fresh picture in front of their eyes.
For everyone else I can give the ref of 2017, for some general idea only. Please, remember that everything in it is outdated, from the style of drawing his eyes to his outfits! www.deviantart.com/amaryllex/a… /

Basic information.

Full name: Alejo Ignacio Matias Torres
Species: long-eared jumping mouse, which is fictional and is positioned as endangered in LotW and extinct in MLS (could be known as Zapus auritus if discovered before becoming extinct)
Place of birth: Cerritos, state San Luis Potosi, Mexico (this info may be changed)
Ethnic/Nationality: Mexican
Religion: raised in Catholicism, he rushes between Christianity and Paganism throughout the plot
Sexual orientation: heterosexual/heteroromantic
Status: single in the beginning of the story

Appearance.
- For a male jumping mouse he's above average height, lean, but having well-developed muscles, and long strong legs adapted for impressive jumps and high-speed running over short distances.
- The ears are rather large as of a hare or a jerboa.
- The eyes are yellow as of an eagle (however, they used to be dark brown when he was a child: boosty.to/amaryllex/posts/dc01… ).
- The fur is short and harsh, mostly concolored, not counting the dark marks around his eyes, and the bottom part of his face that becomes a little darker and looks like a stubble when he grows older (I'm also thinking about making his fur darker on his back, but that's not decided yet).
- The tail is rather long and ends with a small tuft the same color as the hair on his head (very dark brown that seems almost black).
- The character doesn't have a permanent hairstyle: at least twice during the plot he gets his hair cut after growing it long; at maturity he also gets sideburns.
- In his ears he's got round earplugs of wood and obsidian (the gold jadeite earplugs I used to draw before is currently an outdated detail that's may be relevant only for AUs).
- On his back there's an image of an eagle, which is a marking of his tutelary spirit, gotten during a pagan ritual; as the story progresses this image tends to increase in size and occupy more and more space on the character's body, making him experience some spiritual and physical metamorphosis.

Personality and else.
- Characters best describing Alejo's personality:
- At the first meeting he makes the impression of a bit grim and tense person, silent and very attentive to the happening around.
- Most often his behaviour is passive aggressive, sometimes he can flare up and get involved in a conflict, but in most cases he prefers to silently hold back his internal boiling.
- He's rather vindictive and poorly able to forgive, but before conducting revenge he weighs the risk. If it's not justified, he's likely to peeve and feel dissatisfied with the situation much longer than he should.
- It's clear that Alejo tends to analyze his actions, but in a critical situation he may succumb to an impulse or blindly rely on his intuition.
- He doesn't really like to take part in discussions when it isn't necessary. When speaking, he may seem rude and tongue-tied. However, he's a very good listener.
- He doesn't like being given nicknames or diminutives, but he tolerates some.
- Alejo's deprived of a unique sense of humor. Sometimes he can wisecrack well, but in general he isn't very witty.
- He doesn't like to be subordinate and strives for independence. Some persons have his respect and can influence him still, but he prefers to deny it.
- He diligently tries to hide that he isn't deprived of fears and weaknesses, that in fact he's vulnerable and isn't always sure of himself, and that he's subject to obsessions and in some cases can become a suggestible follower.
- He's got a well-developed sense of responsibility for his friends and family whose well-being he's very much concerned about. Also Alejo's rather patriotic, and his attachment to his native land only increases with age.
- In general, he makes the impression of a mongrel a little beaten down by life, who can be curious and impressionable and doesn't mind friendly relations but bites for caution.
- Both his income and his leisure are connected with the fact that he's a good rider, shootist, and fighter.
- He's very tenacious and has enviable resistance to adverse conditions.
- Since childhood Alejo's been in tense relationship with his elder brother.
- He also has a fraternal twin sister who he's tightly connected with. She's his closest friend and his soulmate, he trusts with her his worries and sometimes needs her influence on his decisions (you'll get acquainted with this character later. It's not Teresa. Ter is now only his AU sis).
- He happened to be a descendant of a revolutionary whose actions he didn't fully understand and even tended to disapprove until he matured.

Not counting some paragraphs, the given description mostly relates to what Alejo is like in the beginning of the story. He's a youngster when it starts, and during the plot he's supposed to grow up and change in some aspects.
