Because I've done way too many stupid little sketches and submitted them as individual deviations, and need to do some spring cleaning, je vous presente a BIGASS sketchdump of stuff I've done in the past three weeks from the Fruits Basket series by Natsuki Takaya. I really like the one of Shigure and Kureno. I am sure I have said that before, but the emotions in that particular sketch are very great! Kureno looks peeved and carries a whole bunch of resentment, where Shigure has a mixture of mischievious anger and "Ha, Ha, you will never truly have her." Love it!!

on fruits basket, there is no chapter 119... it skips to 120, and im confused.
so i havent read twenty, in hopes of unconfusing myself.

2) Actually I don't recall checking...no wait okay yeah. FOr some reason there is not a chapter 119. But if you read straight to 120 you won't miss anything. I have no idea why this is, aside Takaya went on a very long absence from the series for a while and then picked it right back up, and it might have had to do with her contract or something. No idea. But you won't miss anything, lol. It goes right from Akito stabbing Kureno and having a nervous breakdown running around the woods barefoot to Tohru and Kyo confronting each other about their love...and it goes straight into their conversation in 120. So no worries.
And there are three reasons why the curse "just starts breaking bit by bit," according in part to things Shigure says, and in part to what the reader has to figure out:
a)Time weakening the bonds. As Shigure notes, transformations have become partial or weakened version of the past. For instance, Hatori turns into a seahorse instead of a dragon, and Kureno, before he was freed, turned into a sparrow instead of a rooster.
b) The fact that ALL the 12 are currently born and living at the same time. Momiji explains this to Tohru in an early volume when he talks about Hiro's newborn little sister. As long as this is the case it prevents new seed from carrying on a piece of the Zodiac spirit to a new generation, and all babies are born normally, further weakening the curse.
c) The most important reason, though, is never outright stated, but if you read chapter 130-131 carefully, especially Akito's dialogue, it becomes clear. Each of the 12, Kyo, and Akito all simultaneously think about someone that they love--all in the same moment--and realize that, even without their zodiac spirits possessing them, they will not be alone or unwanted. Look at every panel and you will see this trend happening in 130. This acts as a chain reaction unbreaking each individual's bond one by one, until Akito feels a tremendous sense of both loss and freedom, and begins to weep. Then "god" (the extremely long haired figure who looks slightly like Akira) thanks Akito and her family for enduring the presence of the spirits for so long, and the spirits leave them for good.
