Who's the parent here? I get a feeling this sort of scenario happens a lot between Zelgadiss and Rezo.
Setting is after Evolution-R. Zelgadiss is cured and reconciled with Rezo and Rezo's eyes are open (but still blind) because he is finally rid of Shabranigdo.
Zelgadiss begins to descend the steps to Rezo's lab in Seyruun and is asked to do some silly crazy thing to assist him in...curing the common cold or something. He indulges Rezo in a yes and earns this response
