Thought this could be fun to share...I had been playing the Game of Thrones mod for Crusader Kings II, and while trying to describe it for a friend, I was reminded of an old idea to make a Game of Thrones themed Risk board. My last attempt had ended in failure, but this time, I took the map from the CKII mod, merged the provinces together into the larger Duchies, and then labelled each (although I made a few changes here and there; shifting some ducal borders, and altering a few names). Areas with white text are supposed to be wastelands...you can't travel through them or occupy them.

This is nothing special; I didn't draw any of this, it's really just a quick job in Photoshop using the CKII mod resources to explore what such a board game could look like...certainly, I should try and adjust some borders to make them a bit neater and perhaps try to work in rivers and other natural features. I also have no idea how the hell I'm going to play it...the plan at present is to take it round to a friend's place (along with one or two Risk sets so we've got enough pieces), get as many people as we can to join in, and then make up the rules while eating and drinking lots of unhealthy food. In any case, even if the game's a flop, we should still have a lot of fun.

On another note, if you want to make a quick blank version of this map (or any map for a Paradox Game), open up "provinces.bmp" in Photoshop (although BE SURE TO HIT "SAVE AS" when you're done, otherwise you'll ruin the game file!), then use the Glowing Edges filter on it (Edge Width = 1, Edge Brightness = 20, Smoothness = 1). Next step is to invert the image, and then put a Black and White filter on top (set to Maximum Black). You should end up with a mostly black and white province map that's perfect for colouring in. There might be a few lines that are grey rather than black, but you can just colour them in when you see them.

Hmm? Not this specific one - and I wouldn't recommend using this one anyway; it's such a crappy picture - but if you download the Game of Thrones mod for Crusader Kings II (which this was made using resources from), you can get a better map from there.

Nice map. Unfortunately, I didn't read that series.

I've sort of alternated between the TV series and the book...started out watching the series, then read some of the later books...but I'd already looked up a few spoilers because I wasn't sure I'd get the time to watch the whole show or read the books (not the smartest logic, really).
