Description
I've been wanting to shoot the moon through my Helios 150mm reflector scope for a while, and finally I've managed to drag it out of the shed. This was shot using an Olympus EPL1 camera, connected to the scope via a Kiwi t-mount adaptor. My technique needs some work, but I was quite impressed by what was possible.Another image from the same night:

Thanks ~Jelle-LightArt! Believe it or not, but I think I can do better, with even more detail! Watch this space!

Thanks ~gadounelfe! I'll have a remote shutter attached to the camera on my next try.

It gets blurrier as you move from the large, dark circle in the bottom left of the photo, increasingly to the right, but it's amazing how much detail you can get through that set-up regardless. The craters seem well-defined, and you can even see some of the smallest ones pretty well. I'd love to see more of the moon; maybe shift the viewing angle so there's less black space to the left and on top. I think that might also improve the focus (or draw attention away from the blurriness if it's uncontrollable). In any case, a great shot, and I look forward to any lunar/space photos you may take in the future.

Thanks for the comments ~Iroken! I had the adaptor mounted onto a Barlow lens which could probably do with a bit of a clean. Also, the primary and secondary mirrors need looking at. But I was very happy with this first go of it!
I'd like to capture the whole of the moon, but the Barlow was the only way to get the screw adaptor onto the mount.

- This photo is absolutely gorgeous!
I am really jealous of how clear and close up of a shot you can get.
I really hope you keep taking photos of the Moon like this.

~ImaginaryHeart, if the skies stay clear, I'll be right out there! Thanks for your comment - I've owned the telescope for years now, but have only just got the equipment to mount a camera on it.
