and finally got around to drawing Red again. and long overdue I think. but I think this makes up for the wait. I made some improvements, in particular to her sword, I wanted to make it more obviously a sword crafted for her personally. and I think the outfit works better for her as well, I never was quite happy with her pants in the first drawing...though I DID love the coat, and those of you who did as well, don't worry, it's not gone, she's just not wearing it at the moment.I got the idea essentially from 's [link] and realized that Red is one of the more slender of my characters, and as such is easier to get that particular pose correct...of course she's not all THAT slender, though truth be told Red can look pretty much however she wants, and suits her needs, though this is her preferred form, somewhere between human and demon, and the form she most often takes when in the mirror world.
Honestly she's one of my favorite characters to write for, she's so utterly chaotic and capricious. and being several thousand years old gives her plenty of chances for some really insane stories.
at some point I have to draw her partner Nial, the calming influence, the one that keeps her yet to be written stories from being TOO insane, but still far from boring.

I can understand that, most of my drawings of Red take place in the mythical realm, often called "the other side of the looking glass" where everything is a bit more dreamlike (or nightmare like) and I try to give a more warped...skewed flow to things...
though I'll be the first to admit it could use more work

well Red can change her shape and appearance to look like pretty much any female...so who knows? maybe she WAS your wife

one of the more capricious things Red did was take the form of Caligula's sister for a night and basically drove his fragile psyche over the edge to the resulting massive chaotic breakdown

hahaha well the truth is, Red isn't evil in the mustache twirling supervillian puppy kicking fashion, more in a "do whatever amuses me without any thought to the feelings, wellbeing, or consequences to others" sorta evil. she did that mostly because she happened to be in Rome at the time and happened to catch the looks Caligula was giving his sister's way and thought "my my this could be fun to play with..." honestly she didn't expect the resulting meltdown...but really it's a tossup whether or not knowing it would have changed her actions any

I love this! You always flesh out not only the character with detail, but the background as well. Really completing your image. The design is wonderful, and I admit I have no great skill with Firearms.

I think one of the newer skills I'm most happy with is figuring out how to soften and blurr the background a bit so that it's not as distracting from the main character, before I either had to make more simple and boring backgrounds, or risk the character becoming lost...now, I'm happy that I can have pretty much as detailed a bg as I want and still have the character stand out.

I really don't do to much backgrounds. I suppose I should, but half the time. I'm just drawing a picture.. as a reference for a character I might be currently playing in an rp. So, I suppose backgrounds are not that important.

thanks, it's a bit easier with Red than with some of my other characters, but it's still kinda a tricky pose.
also I think it's as much the head and neck angle as the hip that pulls it off...

I'm a lot happier with her in this version, but then I suppose thats what happens when you flesh out a character a bit and then re-draw her. I wanted to put a bit more of her personality and badassness into this one, hopefully it succeeded. also, though I don't really expect anyone to catch it, I put a hint to the scars on her back where her wings were ripped off in this one.

I never noticed the scar until you mentioned it; but that's a cool detail, the kind of thing which builds character in an image. You did well to reflect her personality through things such as her pose, clothing, weapons and the cigarette she's smoking. It all adds up to form a larger picture (metaphorically speaking, not literally a larger pic lol).
