**LINKS**Volpin V1: [link] *Best portal gun I know. Don't try to follow this unless you have the materials, tools, money, and skillset, as this is pretty much a professional go at the portal gun.
Volpin V2: [link]
JeremiahJW: [link] Basically a slightly cheaper version of Volpin's, using papier mache rather than plastic.
~chanced1 : [link] Using only papier mache and cardboard. Other WIPS in gallery.
Cost of materials in this part:
Wireform mesh: $8.99
Cardboard: free
Total cost of materials:
TBA
So yeah, I'm building a portal gun. This is about two days of work after school and whatnot. There will be more parts--next I'm going to put on the papier mache and *maybe* get started on the barrel.

This is really to me, who wants to make a portal gun as well, but would you mind posting the measurements? Thanks :3

Sure, I can post mine but everyone seems to make theirs based on a different size.
In my math, the portal gun (from the tip of the barrel to the back--not including the claws) is 40 cm in length. The back shell template was 21 cm in length and 12.2 cm in height, approximately. The front was 15.6 cm by 10 cm. The thing is that since I used the template to make the armature, the outer surface of my shells exceeds the measurements.

Thank you! To be entirely honest it's more like WIP shots with commentary, because I'm bad at deciding what not to put in. XD

I think its better to be extremely detailed than to omit information that might seem obvious to you but cause mistakes when someone else tries to follow.

Well that's good. I have a tendency to ramble anyways when I'm talking about deviations, so I suppose it's put to good use.
First tutorial ever: I suppose it's a success?

It'll probably be up in the next few days.
Most likely concerning making the paper mache all smooth for the paint and all.

a) This is not the functional part.
b) My black-hole miniatureizing technology is not quite up to par with that of the actual Aperture Science, and therefore it is difficult to fit the black hole into the device so as to cause the dimension ripping the portal gun is good for. In other words, no, I cannot get it to work.

Oh well. I at least know that I could made a combustible lemon launcher probably work. Then I could burn down someone's house. with the lemons. naw...I'll just settle with making a companion cube and carrying it with me everywhere! (dude! I should seriously make a plush companion cube! that would be so awesome!!!!!! summer project here I come!)
