Princess Mononoke is a bit outside of my wheelhouse for me to have a strong connection with the character, and the Wiki article does a terrible job of explaining the story in any compelling way. But, as long as you're happy with it, that is what matters.

Honestly the movie is great for what it is but required actual watching to understand the real scope of it.
The main character isn't even really the main person for the film really.
It's about how a woman trying to do great good and reform the social status quo to help the sick and those least valued in their society (whores/women) and make a place where they can stay.
In trying to do so though she's destroying the last d and forest angering spirits Wich is what main character is even present for. This princess was taken to the forest as a child and her family attacked by wolves the mother held out the baby basicly as a meat shield and the wolves spared the baby killing the mother for such a wicked action.
Long story short by the end were supposed to have some grand love and understanding for. Nature and how were supposed to live in harmony with it blablabla studio Ghibli nature morals that should be considered.
Good film but impossible to truly describe in real detail.
