Why do I feel like I’m the only one who gives a crap about Sansa? I bet she’ll pull off a major turnaround in Book 6 or 7 and you’ll all forget you hated her in Book 1/Season 1!!!Haha. Ok, seriously, Sansa building Winterfell is one of the best internal scenes in A Song of Ice and Fire for me. We all know she’s the weakest link among the Starks, but this scene seems to foreshadow the notion that she’ll slowly come into her own and play a very important role much later. (I hope…I mean with GRRM, anything can happen. But then again, he doesn’t just write random scenes for no reason, so I’m optimistic.) Sansa’s progress may be a slow burn right now, but I think a character who’s able to step up within her own capacity deserves some credit.
Arya’s journey obviously sees her gaining skills suited for the battlefield. On the other hand, I think Sansa’s journey sees her slowly gaining skills suited for cutthroat court politics. It’s exciting to think what leverage these Stark kids will have by the end of the series.

I'm with you all the way! Sansa is my favourite character, simply because everybody is against her. Though I love Daenerys, Arya and all the other strong heroines, it's Sansa who kept her sanity along the whole journey. Arya is strong and tough, but basicly a ten year old serial killer O_o. And Daenerys has so many admirers because she is the last of a bloodline and she has dragons. Sansa is the only one who managed to survive without special skills or powers to threaten someone. That makes her very admirable in my opinion.
I love your artwork, it's so beautiful. (this scene is from the third book. Sadly, book six and seven aren't published yet)

I just read this part. I think she really needed this. Too bad about the giants.
And for me, I've always loved Sansa. Only time I didn't like her was when she wouldn't kneel for Tyrion.. It was embarrassing.
Love the picture, though.

She is one of my favorite characters, if not the favorite. Many people misunderstand her, and they often forget that she is only 11 years old at the beginning of ASoIaF series. She is such an interesting character who has many possibilities and space to grow into a powerful and wise woman. I don't know what would her end game be, but I am hoping that George Martin has some big plans for the girl. Also, I do sense that she will be the death of her *cough father/pimp Petyr Baelish, and I'd love to see how they capture their relationship on the big screen.
PS I can't wait for season three, and I would love to see this scene on TV. It's one of the most amazing scenes in the books. I do hope that directors will include it, or I'll be seriously disappointed.

I seriously disliked Sansa in the first book and season, but after her father's death she really started to develop into more than just Little Miss Head-in-the-Clouds and she really grew on me after that. And this scene especially is a big scene for her. You captured that beautifully. I'm seriously hoping for the Stark sisters to make names for themselves by the end of the books.

Personally, I think that Sansa's "turnaround" occurred in her last chapter of AGOT Really, a lot of hate directed towards her is stemmed in sexism/misogyny as well as a total lack of understanding of her character. I totally get that she can be someone's least favorite, but all the (sexual) violence that I've seen wished upon her has more to do with the faults (re: seriously messed up and disgusting thoughts) of certain readers than Sansa. Fortunately, she's rather popular on Tumblr among people involved in the fandom, so problematic opinions are more easily avoided
Also this artwork is gorgeous and making me emotional.

Beautiful! I love Sansa so much--and don't worry, sweetie, you'll be back in Winterfell before too long. Because she's getting geared up to be QUEEN OF THE NORTH and it'll be PARTY UP IN WINTERFELL BITCHEZ. Because the girl everyone underestimated? Is coming back, and is gonna totally PWN when she does.

Sansa is actually my favorite character, and this scene is beautiful and one that has stuck with me ever since I read it. You've done a really great job conveying the mood of that scene, and I love your interpretation of it.

Yay! Me, too! In fact it was only after I finished reading everything that it slowly started to sink in that Sansa's a really interesting character with potential. Glad someone thinks the same I keep re-reading my favorite scenes too, so I can appreciate, study and draw them.
Thank you so much

It might take ages for The Winds of Winter to arrive, but I'm gonna patiently wait and...I dunno, just do fan art so my feelings don't die until then. Ahaha!

I agree whole-heartedly! Sure she was a brat at first but she's starting to bring it together. I have a feeling she'll get tired of being used in the next book.
Arya I see no so much on the battlefield but in the shadows.
And I have a great idea of what Bran will be doing in the end, but I doubt it'll come to that.
And everybody forgets Rickon!

I hope Sansa learns a lot from Littlefinger. Though it's just as scary that Littlefinger is actually on top of the whole game and Sansa's like bottom contender at the moment. And he's just creepy towards her. Ech.
I'm so worried about Rickon in general! Ahaha! Just thinking of all the repercussions of abandoning a child in his formative years. >_< And I even thought we'd get Osha's perspective with Rickon in DWD, but apparently not. Oh well, at least we know Davos got a tip off on Rickon.
Oh, what I meant by battlefield was not literally on the front line of war but physical combat in general...well, maybe "field work" is the more correct term I guess. XD
Thank you for the comments and throwing in of thoughts. Really appreciate it
