Description
"To be able to rise from the earth;to be able, from a station in outer space,
to see the relationship of the planet earth to other planets;
to be able to contemplate the billions of factors in precise and beautiful combination that make human existence possible;
to be able to dwell on an encounter of the human brain and spirit with the universeβ
all this enlarges the human horizon . . ."
β Norman Cousins, 1973.
I personally have always felt some sort of connection with the Space Shuttle Discovery. Discovery was the first and only shuttle launch I have ever seen, and I have a small model of it sitting on my desk at home. Hearing of it's last launch made me sad, but all good things must come to an end every once an awhile... but we still shall miss them.
So thank you, Space shuttle Discovery. Thank you for helping us touch the stars.

The Space Shuttle was the only true re-utilizable spaceship. The problem was only to use tone of fuel to be launched in the space. Using a few gram of antimatter, they can resolve the launch problem, without poising the Earth atmosphere every time I think, this one is the best ship ever build by NASA.

Beautiful! I have a connection to the Discovery, too, because it went up on my birthday in 2006! My dad and I saw it from the Main Street Station at the Magic Kingdom; we didn't even know there was a launch that night! It was incredible.
