Description A juvenile version of a tattoo that I am designing for myself. All work has been done in Adobe Illustrator.

EDIT: I made the tree bigger and added some "roots" to the bottom so the tree looks as though it is growing inside the Ouro. This was tattooed on my right hip on 9/20 - check out my gallery for pictures.

**Quite a few people have approached me about getting this design as a tattoo for themselves. I see this as a great honor, I just have a few requirements. I spent a very long time coming up with this design and the meaning is incredibly personal to me, and I can understand why it would touch so many others. Most people wouldn't want to share something so personal, but if you like my artwork so much that you want it tattooed on your body forever, I see no greater honor.

All I ask is please, PLEASE, give me credit for the design; let me know that you are getting it; and share the pictures with me so I can see my work. Thank you.**

We're curious;
Could you explain the meaning and symbolism behind this design?
We're thinking about using it as a tattoo.

Hello love. I just want to let you know that tomorrow afternoon I am going to get a tattoo and your design is really what I want (I have gone through so much loss in the past month alone) for my first tattoo to be. I'll share with you the image once the tattoo is done. Thank you.

This is an amazing design. I would love very much to get this tattooed on myself. See, the ouroboros tattoo (and the tree of life) was mentioned in one of my favourite novels by Alyson Noel, titled "The Immortals". And that book changed my life and how I thought about the world. Although, I will put more thought into getting it. ^_^ I'll window shop for more designs. But, fabulous design!

This is fantastic! It really speaks to me. I am too old (and squeamish) for a tattoo, but would love your permission to get a rubber stamp made with this to stamp in the inside cover of my journals. I would give you full credit and it would just be for me, nothing commercial. I would also be willing to pay you for the use of the design.

I've also fallen in love with your design. I wanted a tattoo in memory of my brother who died this year. He was born in the year of the snake but I didn't see a snake tattoo I liked until I saw yours. With the tree of life in its centre, it's truly beautiful. It is on my ankle, left, inside, and was done today by Rob at King Street Tattoo, Newtown, Sydney. My first, and probably only ink. Thanks to you both. I have a picture, but can't see how to upload it here.... Happy to share.

Hey there! I HAVE gotten your tattoo, and I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. I was looking for an ourobouros, and this one jumped out at me instantly on every level. It has SOOOOO much meaning for me; it felt like you made it for me! Anyway, girl, you're awesome and you get all the credit. My tattoo looks EXACTLY like the one drawn here, and I got it done at Mom's tattoo at the Haight in San Francisco. They didn't take any pictures of it after they finished. I have shared this link on Facebook when people have asked me what it looks like, so they will surely see your name/explanation. Let me know if there's any other advertising/networking I can do for you. I am really old fashioned and don't have a digital camera or a smart phone, so can't send you the pic, but it's on the small of my back, about 3.5-4.5 inches in diameter, and it's beautiful (like I said, looks like the picture above).
Peace,
Julie

I love your picture.

I have a page on Facebook. A few persons sharing small stories and poems.

The name of the page: Renewal in the goings (the theme)

So... There are no other pic than your combination of ouroboro and the three of life... it "speaks"
We love to use it in this context.

Diverging roads and perpetual return. Complete opposites, yet both commonly used to portray the nature of life. They were meant to be together and the result feels so refreshing.

I hadn't even thought of including the tree of life, but it looks beautiful together. Would you mind if I modify a version of this design for my tattoo? I don't check my deviantart page anymore, but you can contact me at jge!lin!mi!@!gmail!.!com without the exclamation points. I hope to hear from you!

Andradora In reply to Jawdoe [2008-06-26 00:36:31 +0000 UTC]

Sorry it took so long to reply to this, Jawdoe. As a very basic description, the entire thing represents my life philosophy. It is difficult to explain in so many words but the main idea to the tree of life is that your roots are your foundation, and from those roots you must grow and expand in many different directions, or branches, until you are strong and prosperous enough to "blossom". Even if those "blossoms" perish and die, they will fall to the ground and fertilize the rest of the tree, thus adding to the foundation. The Ouroboros represents life's cyclical nature.

Thanks for the compliments!!
