Yep I understand, I'm in the same situation... I have a Canon 350D and even 800 iso is really too noisy. The only solution is to use lenses with a good aperture, like the Canon EF-S 50mm f/1.8 which costs way less than 100 US$, and then try to use efficiently all the light sources you have... anyway I'm moving towards better equipment, in some days I'll receive my new Canon 7D and the Canon EF f/1.4 lens, so I don't think I'll have this kind of problems anymore
