In this black and white version, the waters look more powerful and the cliffs of Vahalla appear as ominous watchers over the scene. Mist and spray arise in the center as if to obscure a mythic occurence or to protect the secrets of the old gods. So many things come to mind from the legends which spark our imagination. I also love this monocolor painting.
