Description
After looking through the Bachmann 2018 catalog, I saw that they are now offering a 0-6-0 locomotive in a Baldwin Locomotive Works #26 scheme. I decided to have a little fun and see what modifications would need to be made in order for the model to be more prototypical. Some of these mods would be harder to accomplish then others, which would most likely need brass parts for.1. move headlight to the top of the smoke box door
2. remove safety valve, sand down molded on whistle, and replace with the safety valve
3. enlarge the fire box
4. remove old air compressor, and add smaller one above the center driving wheel
5. replace small air reservoir with larger one.
6. replace steam cylinders with a smaller prototypical pair
7. remove steps
8. install larger cab
9. sand down the molded on number plate
10. remove steam pipe
These are just a few of the modifications I would make if I owned this model.

WAY better too because I didn't like the fact of what Bachmann decided to do by repainting a body shell and tender without making a new and actual model instead for a change. I too feel like customizing one without bothering with buying a model of Baldwin 26 would be more better with a better accuracy to the real locomotive in my opinion.

I'm really considering getting this engine - I plan to perform modifications similar to this and perhaps do a youtube series on how to modify an engine on a budget. This will help tremendously. Would you mind if I possibly showed this picture in the video (when I get around to it), of course giving you and bachmann trains their respective credits?

Wow, I never thought my work would make it to YouTube! Sure I'd love to be a part of it.

I could give you a shoutout too! My goal is to (hopefully) do all of these modifications to the locomotive (possibly scratchbuilding parts, using brass for some details, sound decoder, etc.) to the locomotive for under $100 not including locomotive cost, and basically making a tutorial on how to do it. Model Railroading shouldn't be as expensive as it is, and there are ways that it can be done cheaper, and I'd like to show people how.
