There are stoies of witches that turn themselve into pale human size birds that feed on infants. leaving spots, like dime size bruses on them. They take out there eyes and put them into a glass of water and use cat eyes to see in the night. A southwest superstition told to children, that maybe related to greek mythology. Of crthey have to return home before dawn, or be naked and blind stumbling to find their way home.
