Description All of my crystal/rock finds over the last few days. My step-mom came into town and we always love going crystal shopping together. I have been on the hunt for a selenite slab that I can do my crystal grid work on, and I finally found one! I was so happy! Got lots of little crystals for future crystal grid work: Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Blue Lace Agate, Turquoise, misc. Brown stones, Fuschite, Sodalite, and 9 new crystal points. Plus a hand size Rose Quartz, a nice chunk of Chrysoprase, and some Agate bracelets for me to wear. I am so happy to start gridding! Β Gridding is just placing two or more crystals together in a grid, usually in a sacred geometry pattern, so that the energies of the individual stones will be enhanced, being together, and also the intention set into them. Each kind of crystal can be used for specific things, for example, Rose Quartz is the stone of unconditional love, so this would be a great stone for making a grid to raise the love vibrations in your home or for yourself or someone that you want to send the energy to. Any kind of stone can work in gridding, what ever you are drawn to, and you do not have to go by what a book or the internet says on a specific stone, if a certain stone means something to you, that is the strongest intuitive energy it can be, the intention you have for it.
Anyhow, just me rambling on, I love this stuff!

I've never seen a selenite slab like that. I imagine it is quite delicate.

Yah Timothy, it is a bit fragile, it was the thinnest one they had, hence the $5 price tag, haha. It is about 1/4 of an inch thick. But it will work fine for my needs, just setting on a flat surface like my pow-wow drum and doing crystal grids on it. The shop had much thicker ones, but for this size it was around $25-40 for the ones that were about 1/2 thick.

I knew it cleaved cleanly, but never thought of it as sheets. I've never seen it in that form either. I have a really nice "fishtail" formation, and it has layers and is delicate -to cleave-, the whole is substantial and heavy.

There's a rock show coming up at the end of September and I'll probably go, that is if sales pick up or I feel like digging into my savings. I'm running out of room and I have lots of both lapidary and personal collection of rocks, so I may only get small pieces or try to make connections with other hounds.

I know there's a stigma with collecting coral, but I have a pair of tiny red corals that needs a third to make the display look complete, so I'll look for one of those(about 2-3" at most -to fit). I might get a pyramid, but that's a slippery slope.. I have several spheres and I seem to always find one I like.

I so hear you, I have not made any large purchases with stones in a long while. I have run out of room as well.Β
The older I get it seems the less I want to collect, I just am not liking clutter. What I have fits nicely on three little shelves in a cabinet, with a few pieces around the house, and it doesn't feel too overwhelming.

I didn't know about Selenite coming in sheets either, but I love it. I have a big piece kind of like a chopped piece of wood size, that I set other crystals on, but it is about 5 inches thick so it was hard to do any grid work on. Plus it is very white compared to this flat thin piece, which is quite clear and I love that about it. I may even save up and get a thicker piece now that I know where to buy them.

I have a few pieces of Coral myself, they were given to me, they are hugely dyed, the very red color, at least they look dyed. But they are some pretty pieces. I never knew they had any kind of a stigma behind them, but I guess I can see why.

I love pyramids, you should definitely add some to your collection. That is my Dad's favorite shape when it comes to stones, so that is pretty much all he collects, we even went and got some salt lamps together, and he found one in the shape of a pyramid and got that, haha. I am drawn to spheres myself, and any of the platonic solids - My fav's are the Octahedron, Dodecahedron, and the Ikasahedron, I prob spelled those wrong.Β

The corals I have are completely real and un-dyed (except the one I got tricked into that one time) and a muted dark red. The stigma I heard was that it's taboo collecting live specimens, but I only collect old harvested specimens, though they were alive when harvestedeven if they were collected decades ago. I don't have any fossilized coral, but I do have an agatized piece.

I'll look for selenite slabs, though I don't really have room for one. I want to get a nice citrine -something- and an Amethyst cluster. My search for a nice smokey quartz cluster is still unfulfilled.Β Yeah, I will be getting a pyramid.. or several. I also want to get another elephant if I find one I like at a reasonable price. I'll see if I can find a set of platonic solids or individuals.

I have fossilized coral and regular coral, never knew it was taboo. Oops! I dug the fossilized stuff myself, but the other stuff I did a trade for.

Citrine has been really lighting up to me lately, it is such a stone of joy for me!
Hope you have fun and can find the pieces you are looking for.Β
I watch a lot of videos and read books on crystals and one cool thing I heard or read one time is that a stone will come into our life right when we need it. So whatever you find, I am sure it will be the perfect ones for you now
A smoky cluster sounds awesome!!! Β My twin sis got me a set of the platonic solids a few birthdays ago, I love them!!

I don't think the taboo applies to fossilized coral since it isn't a living thing when harvested. Last time I went to this show I spent all of my money in the first 5 or so rows, I didn't even see the whole show because I left when I ran out of money. Next time I'll do some walking first and only get things that absolutely call to me on the first round.

It is hard not to do! I always think that if I go look around, that one piece I liked, it will be taken by someone else! Haha!

They do say that the best time to buy is when you see it, because it may not be there when you go back. If only our wallets were deeper.

I actually took some of my artwork to one of last years shows, mostly my glass bottles and some smaller jewelry, and just straight up asked vendors, hey are you trade friendly? I was so happily surprised how many vendors were up for it! I got my one and only piece of Moldavite that way Β It helped soooo much as I literally had like a $15 budget at that show! I thought it would be torture with that small of a budget, but with trading, I came home with about $200 in rocks and even some cool crystal sun catchers! It was fun too, to get to meet the vendors and chat with them

That's a good idea, I might have to bring some of my wood carvings. I've had lots of compliments on them at the farmer's market but haven't sold one in a while, despite how reasonable my prices are on them. Might be easier to bring a few pendants, however, since they'll fit in my pocket.

It is worth a shot. My hubby was kind of embarrassed at first, but after he saw that people didn't mind me asking he lightened up! LOL! What is the worst they can do? Tell me no, I'm good with that, on to the next booth that I find cool stuff at to ask! LOL! I had my back pack on and if someone was interested I had a bunch of stuff they could look thru. You could take a few of your wood carvings and then some smaller stuff too, so you could have a variety for them to choose from.Β

My only problem with bringing my wood carvings is that they're mostly big, though I do have some smaller ones. I don't think the jewelry would get me very far, being as there'll be dozens of other people there who do the same thing, and most probably better. I'll start thinking of how to take them and probably make a few smaller pieces.

Yah, smaller pieces would be nicer to carry around. The rock show that I did trading at, it was all rocks and gems, no jewelry vendors, so that is why I may have done so well

The last time I went to this show, there were all kinds of jewelry vendors. One I was impressed with had very nice amber and silver jewelry in very nice wooden boxes. There were small vendors and huge ones, 25Β’-$50,000+ pieces. I'm going to keep it simple this time, being as I have a bucket full of material for cabs already. I'll get a couple of nice pieces and a small amount of work material, at least that's the plan.
