wow, this is just amazing! i bet the base is quite heavy to balance it all out... i wish you'd written more about the process, like whether you did this as is, or you've stuck two pieces of wood together and carved the woman first or something..
i'd like to know how big it is too.

just beautiful!

Thanks,
Seperate pieces of wood, carved with bandsaw, all from one design (this is the large version, I made a small one first) ... about 1.2m high so quite large and base is indeed heavy (weighted with metal inlays) ...

wow, this is wonderful such a great piece of art. what kind of wood is that? my father makes pens so i'm just curious. the lack of specific details is great, cause it lets the mind put things there that aren't there. i didn't mean that in any sick perverse way

Lovely. I'm particularly fond of the hair and where the stomache meets the legs. Simply gorgeous. You really do deserve the daily deviation.

Musical instruments are often described as looking like women... are you sure you don't have it backwards?

Wow I've never seen a DD with so few comments

trilunar In reply to Rantul [2006-01-30 19:21:31 +0000 UTC]

It's typically appreciated when comments reflect the art

Anyway.. This looks quite balanced, and skillfully done! I can't imagine going through all of those crevices. Congratulations!

I didn't have anything to say about the art really. I've never been much for nude art. I just wanted to point out how odd it is that there were so few comments on a DD.

lovely...I've never heard of that type of wood before the color is really quite striking!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AndyAndersson In reply to oibyrd [2006-02-03 05:29:49 +0000 UTC]

It is a wonderful wood, mostly gone to woodchips now, WA forrests are almost all gone, ... the colours range from almost orange red through to a deep black if you ebonise it with a bit of turps and steal wool ... (and a lovely dark deep red if you french polish it)
