RebloggableOn Tumblr I posted a couple speed paints I'd been doing to practice color and painting and such.
This one is my favorite, mostly because it's the one that looks the best. lol Β And who can resist such Vulcan sass??

Wow the video is really cool!!
And I mean of course it's an awesome painting!!! But I never thought to use a picture next to my drawing.... Or use a grid....or use the color dropper... I've always guessed the colors and drawn it free hand....

I'm so awful at color.... I definitely needed the dropper.
It certainly helped! I find that I can paint my original art better now that I've done some speed paints focusing on how light&shadow works on the face.

Personally, I use Photoshop CS6... but I didn't use anything that isn't available on any free program, either. *shrug*
