Description I'm on an experiment-trip again, so please don't be confused if you see many artworks with different styles in the future .

I hate this photo, the colors changed as usual . The contrast of the colors looks better in the original painting...
EDIT: I tried again and got a better shot!

kind of cool idea.
i like the simplicity of the pattern and the color pallet you chose. Keep up the experimentation... That's what I like to do myself... your just going to have to listen to other artists telling you that you need to have one and only one style.... I find that boring... and always want to create something new.. Good luck

Thank you so much for your nice words !
Yes, I agree. Doing always the same thing is boring .

I have trouble getting my photographs reflect the right colour too. So now I usually wait for daylight, and take them outside. Just sit them against the house, or on a stool, make sure it doesn't get full sun. That way the colours are usually spot on. Hope that helps

I love the colours. It's funny, I saw it come by in the deviated Path inbox, and just looked at the images. then I stopped and said, that's Anita. And so it was. You can't hide

Haha, that's great! So you recognized my style right away !

I just realized that the light in my bathroom is perfect for taking photos! And you're right, it has to be daylight, otherwise the colors are terrible... But I've never taken photos outside, have to try

She looks like she's in a jigsaw puzzle. Perhaps she is?

P.S. I've started using the RAW + JPEG format when taking pictures of my paintings (and I take many photos with different white balance settings). That way, if the JPEG picture fails, I can try to fix the RAW picture to my liking. But yeah, it's a frustrating process.

I use different balance settings, too, but sometimes it just takes time to get a good shot. I've never heard od RAW + JPEG format... maybe I can ask my boyfriend . He's the computer freak .

If I remember correctly, the RAW image format is a bit like a film negative in traditional film cameras. In other words, it's the image recorded by the camera before any image processing. Digital cameras often get colours wrong, because they try to compensate for any extreme colours. Here's a wikipedia article with more info: [link]

You can select the image format from your camera menu. I think your camera should support RAW images (most newer digital SLR cameras do), but you can check the user guide to make sure. With the RAW + JPEG format, the camera takes both a RAW image and a JPEG image. I've found it helpful with paintings.

You're welcome. Good luck! Here's one more link about photographing paintings that I found helpful (it's from a discussion forum so it's a bit messy, but there's a lot of good advice in there): [link]

i've been having a terrible time with the colors in my work not looking right in the pictures. grrr...i know how you feel.

this is awesome. so different! i like the way the color in the spaces between the black lines looks sort of corroded or rusted or aged. great stuff!

anitadunkl In reply to merpagigglesnort [2011-03-12 19:33:35 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much! The color between the black lines is made with oil pastels. That's the reason why it has that different "structure" .

I tried again and got a better shot ! I just realized that the light in my bathroom is best for taking photos .

I could Photoshop this to the right colors if you'd like me to. Sometimes it's easy sometimes it's hard, but I'm sure it's just gorgeous with the right colors!

I have the same problem with getting the colors. I think this is beautiful. It has the feeling of being engulfed by our surroundings.

anitadunkl In reply to ArtByCher [2011-03-12 19:42:21 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much . Yes, you have to take +20 photos in different light and different places and then maybe one photo is decent. I just uploaded a better version and now I'm happy with the results .
