I think he was a hermaphrodite; someone with both male and female sexual organs. Apart from that, I know nothing.

I hadn't thought about it then actually, but now I think he was. Not sure to which category he would qualify himself though.

I actualy found out last night that he was orinally male. But after a ritual, he became somewhat like a shapeshifter. He can take what ever gender he whishes now, like a Deadric Prince.

Well yes, he was born male, but we don't actually know which gender did he identify with. I think he could have been kind of genderfluid from the start, but well, it may be just my headcanon.
