A bit different Vriska Serket robot arm tutorial: Part 1 - The Glove.~ NO COMMISSIONS ~

At this half I explain how to make a glove out of 60 den grey tights. -Again, this is just a messy walkthrough with all the mistakes and everything of how I rolled with this. There are better ways, I bet. Learn from my mistakes, bro! :'D
So, my robot arm ended up a bit more complicated than the original design. I didn't want to just color my arm with few stripes for the cosplay and be done with it. I wanted it to look a bit more.. well.. AWESOME. I took influence from GUNNM and FMA etc. and the fab result surprised even me. : D Since people have been so sweet and curious about this, here's a 2-part tutorial just for you. <3
This method can be used for just any robot arm, not just Vriskas. Or simply just how to make a grey glove for troll cosplay etc, if you don't want to paint your skin.

Thanks for this tutorial - I was thinking of trying to do a craft foam arm, but this just seems like it would be much more comfortable to wear all day. Hopefully. I actually tried buying long gloves but they were too short and too big and kind of unsalvageable, so I think this will be the best way to go.
Did you chop off the whole leg? Does it stay up on your arm well? Do you need to sew in elastic at the top or anything? Ignore me if you're going to be mentioning that in part 2.

Yeah, it's quite comfortable. I have answered some of that matter on earlier comments but yes, I'm gonna get to that in part two -when I'll be able to continue it aarg. I'm travelling and forgot my wacom pen home it would seem. go me

Oh gosh this is awesome! For some reason the Ben Nye didn't stick to my skin at /all/, and this is a very thorough tutorial (the other ones I found confused me and I ruined about 4 pairs of tights, whoops!) Umm would it be alright if I asked a few questions?
1) Just double checking; this is hand-sewn, right?
2) For the wrist, do you shape it by putting on the glove and then put your hand flat down, or sideways/your pinky flat on the table/surface/whatever?

I didn't say this to be easy, yeah. if it's too tight to handle, maybe you should try bigger size tights/leggins to get your fingers more room

Wow this is absolutely amazing! Did you have to use something to hold it up onto your shoulder or did it stay that way?

I used a few systems at the con, safety pins and cloth tape but they both just pulled my shirt with the glove, so yeah, that stretchy thing was falling down a little and i had to correct it every once and a while. but next time i'm gonna attach it with a lace/string to my other arm, over the elbow so it won't affect the other clothing and stay (hopefully) better at place.

Oh my god, this is so perfect. You're being able to add cool robot details, and it doesn't look bulky like the ductape method! When I saw the pictures of your Vriska cosplay I had to do a double take, and then after that I thought it was actually painted on your arm.

yeah the glove acts very nicely together with copics. the sky's the limit really how realistic arm you want if you have the skill.

Oh gosh.. I think you just saved me the massive hassle of locating and dyeing full arm length gloves. I've been thinking out steps for a Vriska cosplay for AGES, and this was the one part I hadn't fully figured out yet: those darn arms!
Hey, do you mind my asking what to look for when hunting down tights? Is there anything special to them, or will just regular opaque do?

mine are just normal opaque.. I haven't really thought about if metallic shade etc. ones have an effect for like how the copics stick to it. but those ones will definitely be hard/ impossible to shade with these copic shades I'm using or at all for that matter. haha. opaque is safe. it works.
