A bit different Vriska Serket robot arm tutorial: Part 1 - The Glove.~ NO COMMISSIONS ~

At this half I explain how to make a glove out of 60 den grey tights. -Again, this is just a messy walkthrough with all the mistakes and everything of how I rolled with this. There are better ways, I bet. Learn from my mistakes, bro! :'D
So, my robot arm ended up a bit more complicated than the original design. I didn't want to just color my arm with few stripes for the cosplay and be done with it. I wanted it to look a bit more.. well.. AWESOME. I took influence from GUNNM and FMA etc. and the fab result surprised even me. : D Since people have been so sweet and curious about this, here's a 2-part tutorial just for you. <3
This method can be used for just any robot arm, not just Vriskas. Or simply just how to make a grey glove for troll cosplay etc, if you don't want to paint your skin.

Just a question: did you use a sewing machine, or was everything hand-sewed?

I hand sewed everything. there's no way you could use a machine those tiny stiches and this fabric

But I guess I'm a little confused and cutting off 1 sock part; do you mean you actually cut off the foot part of the tights or you cut it so that you have the tights split down the middle?

alone that looks like troll skin because it's grey, so you could use that instead of body paint :::

copics are worth it, trust me : D

It says you used 60 Den? Can that be purchased anywhere, or only in Finland? I need to make some for me, and my friend who's cosplaying Nepeta 
Also, I didn't quite understand the wrist part?
I've already cosplayed as Vriska before, and I was pretty happy with my efforts, although I totally failed when it came to colour

no idea about the 60den, anywhere I guess..? if you don't find exactly that den it ain't a problem as long as you can't see through the fabric. the wrist, well, just cut the fabric till the glove fits your wrist. : D simple

I couldn't find any stockings to suit what I needed, but by some miracle (pun intended?) I found grey knee-high socks! Need to cut the heel out of them, but they should work the same!

It's just i can't find any around in the shops, so i'm being forced to buy on the net, and don't know where to look/which to use and all = /

ah. take your time experimenting. if you're unsure of the quality, order a few different kinds of them (and in case of mistakes there's a good to have a spare pair at hand!), as long as the cloth is smooth enough for drawing it should be ok. good luck! : )

Would you happen to know what materials these tights are made of? (cotton, nylon, etc.) Thanks for the great tutorial by the way, I just got my copic markers and all I need are some good tights. This is one of the most creative ideas I've ever seen!

I bought mine from this one finnish store Seppälä, you won't be having any of those where you live I bet, so I can't help you with that, sorry.

Gah I am linking on of my friends to this as he is gonna be Vriska this winter. BLUH BLUH SO AMAZING. Although I actually attempted (several times for two days) to make trollskin gloves... And failed terribly. Although I have larger arms and hands (damn you pushups! And genetics...) so maybe this will work better on someone with more delicate fingers. :// I just couldn't get it to work out. OH WELL I HAVE PAX SHIT ON ORDER NOW.
