Two quotes I found that I really liked while researching Dr.Manhattan. Mostly just trying out the filters in GIMP. The layer feature is too cool, lets me cut out the parts of the filter I don't want.

It looks wonderful. I like the way you worked the filters on it. I know GiMP can be wired to get use to at first. Did you think of adding a slight red filter over the near planet, as you make it look like Mars? Keep up the good work man.

Thanks! This was my first time using gimp filters so I'm glad you liked. When I first started painting this I didn't know much about the watchmen story, so I put him above the moon. I did do an earlier version with though with a ultimate paints red flare called "watch the world burn" [link] but thought I made it too dark. If I find some time in the near future I might try removing the earth and going for a more mars look. Thanks greatly for the input!
