Inside Janet's navel the small metal tendrils injected her with a local anesthetic compound. Within moments she could not feel her abdomen or hips. With slow precision a small incision was made and thin flexible tubes began to spread inside her, splitting into two groups which headed for opposite sides of her body.

Continuing downwards each group encountered her fallopian tubes where they created small incisions and slithered down to her ovaries. Once there they collected her eggs, removing them with utmost care so as not to damage them or her. Then they replaced her natural eggs with ones which looked very similar but had an alien sheen to them that a human doctor would have found very puzzling.

The switch completed, the tubes began to retract and sutured the incisions in her fallopian tubes and navel as they left her body ...
