A literal witch blade, a blade made out of that Looney Tunes witch Hazel. (I think that's her name) Sweet work with the Sara Pezzini version, and I used to watch the TV version of that show regularly. There's also an anime version that was put out by Top Cow and Studio Gonzo several years ago.
One of the coolest Witchblade things was the concept album telling a story. It starred Kat Bjelland as the Witchblade holder, it also starred Miho Hattori (Cibo Matto, Gorillaz) as someone I forget. The most memorable character was the dark, brooding male portrayed by Peter Steele (R.I.P.) of Type O Negative. I don't have the CD anymore, but I'm glad I was able to grab for myself the MP3 of the best song on that CD, "Go To Sleep," www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJW4WR… sung by Peter Steele and Kat Bjelland.

It might take some more Google searching to find a copy of that album. I stumbled upon the MP3 by dumb luck.
Yancy Butler kicked ass on that show, but I think she had a problem with her drinking that endangered the show's future, and certainly curtailed her own acting career.
