I've actually heard it used for "lots of love" "laughing out loud" and "lots of laughs" before, but I love the little cloud thought/speech bubble. What a lovely photograph. : D

Actually, "Lots of love" was what my husband thought I was saying when I used "LOL." Originally it meant just that, Lots of Love, but then the internet hit and we changed it... it started with AOL chat rooms.

My mom has a few facebook friends that think lol means that. It made for an awkward message when one of them tried to say "heard your dad died -lol"

Some people dont know that Lol also means Laugh Out Loud, so they put it on the end of all thier texts, which can lead to some mixed messages. Eg:
"Our Grandmother just died. LOL"
