Description
This is an OPEN species, however you may only use them for personal use. I will be making some adoptables soon-I tried to make them like less OP Seawings by making them unable to survive in salt water
-They can lure others into the water with their songs. But they don't actually control others, they can just momentarily hypnotize them
-They have animuses
-They are based off of a mix of pistol shrimps, sirens, angler fish, sea dragons, and birds.
-Many dragons do not take them as serious because they are scattered and this makes them weaker in battle. However it does make it easier for them to escape and hide out from war.
-Sirenwings are very territorial and some label their ways as "savages"
-Dragon outline made in Illustrator. Coloured in Photoshop. Text added in Photoshop
-I had to go through several dragon designs before I settled on this one.
-The outline alone took 4 hours to create in Illustrator
-The colouring and text only took 1.5 hours.
=5.5 hours.
I tried using the blob brush in illustrator this time. Then I remembered why I never use the blob brush, even though it's faster and easier than using the pen tool...because you can't make skinnier lines, so then I had to open it in Photoshop and erase the lines into thinner ones.

There aren't any Sirenwing animuses. They
technically aren't dragons, but wyverns. The only reason some of them have wings on their backs is because a seawing animus gave them that when they forced him to

I'm sorry but I feel like you copied some things from my Reefwings. The end of the tail is literally almost the same thing and on the neck and head the flappy thingies are also there. There just a bit changed. Did you copy from me? Because I don't take it lightly, especially when it involves Reefwings.

Shallowpond, I'm sorry that you feel threatened. If it makes you feel any better, I did not base it off of your dragons. I based it off of a mix between birds, pistol shrimps, sirens, sea dragons, angler fish (that's where those things that glow on its head come from), and even flowers. The tail is based off of a spiky blooming flower design. And if you want to know the picture that I based it off the most, here it is:

For the tail, I was actually going for what was in the picture above. However, I didn't want to make it too similar to the person who drew this picture, plus my dragon would need to use its tail for swimming, and this picture above is much too small. So I made it larger and spikier, and then after I drew it I thought to myself "This looks a lot like a flower." So then I put a centre swirl in it to make it look even more so. Personally I don't think the tail looks similar at all, your tails are wispy like seaweed, and mine are spiky and layered like an opening flower. Plus no offense but the tail you have isn't exactly an original design. Four years ago I made a mermaid that had that kind of tail: aprilsilverwolf.deviantart.com…
And it's kind of hard to lay claim to something like a tail, when there are literally thousands of pictures of dragons out there that have the same type of tail. You based your picture off things of the reef, seaweed, fish tails, coral, etc. None of these things are original designs, the only original things about them is the mix and match that you matched your ideas with. You took parts of the ocean and mashed them together onto a dragon. Many people all over the world have done likewise, and there are many similar looking dragons out there to yours. Because of the amount of people in the world, it is not uncommon for designs to look similar to each other, even if other people weren't actually copying each other. Since you based your design off of something in nature, anyone can lay claim to the design within nature, which is God's design.
Your head things are also different. Yours look more like leaves or wispy seaweed, which look nothing like mine at all. Mine are based on this sea dragon:

And likewise, they glow like an Angler's bulb too. So I took the idea from an Angler fish.
No one can lay claim to something that is based off of an animal, because that's not original, that's just taking inspiration from nature. And everyone does that. Thousands of people have used things from animals to create their own designs. The only thing you can lay claim to is your specific dragon design, and our dragons are so different in every other aspect that my design is original when compared to yours. Your themes and my themes just happen to be similar: The Sea. Since the Sea has that kind of theme, it's apparent that any sea dragon is going to have similarities, because that's the theme of the ocean. To be honest I don't even think they look at all similar. Though I still stand that I don't think our "flappy things" are all that similar, nor our tails.

Which by looks alone you could also say looks like it was copied from yours, except it wasn't, because I didn't even know who you were back then. Because this dragon was also copied from the Sea theme, and it was copied off of the Leafy Green Sea Dragon, and also inspired by this: s145.photobucket.com/user/hero… And that was from a video game called Fire Emblem. But their design isn't original either because they also took inspiration from the leafy green sea dragon. So all in all, great minds think alike. Or rather, human minds think alike, especially when following similar themes.
I'd also like to point out that no one can copyright ideas. Every single idea is based off of something, usually something from life or nature that is reinterpreted into something as a fantasy creature, but either way, no one can lay claim to the ideas of nature because nature only belongs to God. Mine is so different from yours that most people wouldn't draw a connection. I certainly saw no connection when I created it. I don't think you have to worry.
I'm sorry if you feel offended, but I promise you I did not base it off of your dragons, even if they have similar themes. The unique and original ideas of your dragons (in my opinion) are the cheek pouches that store water and air, and also the whole temperature thing which is very cool. I also think your wings are very unique, but as far as the tail and the flappy things go, they mostly just look like they were inspired from leafy green sea dragons (real animals) and fish, and also mermaids, I've seen lots of mermaid drawings with the same types of tail.
Also, my Sirenwings were originally going to live in deep deep dark water, like where Octopus and Angler fish live and stuff because those kinds of creatures are what they were based on. However, I thought they might be able to obliterate the Seawings because they have powers and Seawings do not and I thought that was unfair. So I decided they should be moved to freshwater lakes instead, to give the Seawings an advantage.

XD At first I thought they would try to lure other dragons to the river like a real siren xD Then something about them changes in the water and they become kinda scary looking. But I like what you did. It's very unique

Sure. I just think they're too much like Seawings, and Seawings don't really have any powers. The only thing a Seawing has besides its own fighting skill is the fact that it can escape into the water and no one can really follow it. However, if a Sirenwing could follow a Seawing into the water then Seawings are basically screwed, because that was their only advantage compared to other dragons. That's why I tried to limit the Sirens to freshwater, so that they couldn't just obliterate the Seawings lol. But sure, they can have animuses like other tribes, and they can lure others into the water I guess
