Description
This was commisioned by for his friend Descendent. He wanted Filly Twilight and Baby Spike observing a raven in the park with Twilights parents looking on. This picture actually has quite a lot of meaning behing it, as descendent is a fan of the brother and sister type relationship between twilight and spike, along with having a raven as his fanfiction avatar who represents him. Finally Twilights parents pulling the piece together by admiring the fascinating and innocence of it all. This was definatley personalized in a way that really speaks to Descendent more than anyone else, which is what makes it so special. ^^I absolutley loved working on a piece like this, as it really called for a lot of emotion and depth to it. Especially since it was a gift for someone's close friend (which was amazing to be a part of).

Look at this piece!Β Look all the detail, everything from the foreground to the back, the shading on the building to every last blade of grass!Β The expressions on Twilight and her little dragon are so adorable.Β Two innocent little kids, playing and exploring the world and its wonders.Β And the parents looking on, adoring the bond and the playing; it really makes me feel young again.Β Love the raven!Β His feathers has brilliant shading.
Twilight and Spike definitely have a brother/sister relationship.Β They grew up together, learned from each other, and have long since taken care of one another, becoming each other'sΒ first friend.Β I can't wait to see more of it in Season 5 β starts April 4th!

Thank you, I really appreciate your kind words on this. ^^ For being a piece that ate up alot of my time I felt like I could have done so much more with it(but then again that can be siad about almost every piece). At least I can put some of my insecurities to rest with knowing that the client liked it which is a reward in itself, along with many others which was a nice surprise.

I'm the the one who commissioned this piece for, as you can see by my avatar.
I had bemoaned the fact that I wasn't able to go to BronyCon this year to Jake (who I call "The Sergeant"), and as such I would not be able to buy my yearly slew of sketches featuring Twilight and Spike in hugging/cuddling/nuzzling situations. Whe Jake heard this, he promised me "something special."
I had no idea how wonderful that "something special" would come out to be.Β
Thank you very much for taking on this commission. The "narrative" of the image is very clear and it presents itself fully. It is heartwarming and gives a larger glimpse of the family-like relationship that I hope exists between Twilight and Spike, and her parents, too. I simply can not thank you enough. Well done!

The story behind this was really touching, as I can understand having to miss something because of prior obligations (or just life in general) and I thought it was amazing that Jake wanted to do something like this for you. You're really lucky to have him as a friend.
And no problem, as I told Jake work like this reminds me why i'm an artist. I'm just glad it came out to your liking.

Beautifully made, though some thoughts; Twi's face seems little too puffy and the noses seem a little too large, and the characters (and raven) seem to be lacking ground/item shadows. Again though its otherwise beautifully drawn.

Haha, it's not surprising it may look that way. I was a Watercolor painter before I got into digital, so some of that painter-ish vibe might have leaked over between styles.
