Now this is my contribution to the german Gargoyles-Calendar 2004. Since it was for February and now we have March, it is allowed to show it here ^^
At first I had this idea as a single scene in Bryce. A high mountain, dark atmosphere, somewhat threatening. Took me a whole day to get this scene so far that I decided to keep on working on it. Far away from the final result, but.. promising.
Later on, I had the idea of a lonely gargoyle standing there, watching over the mountains. Yes, at first it was supposed to be a male gargoyle *G*
But since I'm a real chucklehead when it comes to drawing persons into scenes.. I asked my girlfriend lilly once again for help. She made me a quick sketch and it turned out that a female fitted very good into the (former) rough scene.
By colouring this sketch in photoshop, the most time was "wasted". The cloth were so detailed and complicated (originally only the figure had a resolution of 4000x5000 pixels ..) that it was a real pain in the butt. When she was nearly finished, I took again the Bryce-scene and completed it. Then I put it as a background into photoshop and added some last details such as the footprints.
I said "wasted time" because by compressing the gargoyle, a lot of the detail was simply wasted but.. it looks nice, in my opinion. So here you go! Enjoy ^^
