tbh try using photos for colour palettes and see what comes out, you get interesting results

did you use photoshop for this? :0 I have it but I have almost no clue how to use it... I want to learn how to use less lines and more color, but I dont know what tools to use. I normally use Sai if this gives you an idea > _ >"

I actually use Paint tool SAI too!
you should try experimenting with brushes, or find premade brush settings to help make brushes,
the dilution and blending settings on each brushes help a lot for painting, and textures can also help a lot too, (like a cloud tex blur brush)
I'd watch some speedpaints, to get inspired, or get an idea on how to go about painting without as many lines
It's actually easier than painting with lines in a way, since you can feel free to cover up mistakes by painting over, rather than worrying about lineart ^^
tbh photoshop is better for this stuff, but I can't get used to it either

I really want to download new brushes and such but I have no idea how to.. I've looked up tutorials but I get so easily confused by technical terms and such. I uh... also have the " alternate " version of Sai so I'm not sure if that changes anything. I'll try to figure it out sometime, and watch a few speedpaints every now and then when I feel inspired. Thanks

i think in SAI you don't download brushes, you download textures, brushtex
In your computer there should be a folder where SAI is installed, along with all it's folders (probably in 'Program Files')
and in there should be a folder called 'brushtex' with .bmp images.

on dA you can find more .bmp images, or brushtex images to use in SAI, by putting them in the brush tex folder i think.
And you mostly make the actual brush through the brush settings, rather than downloading, so it's more like you look for people who have posted their brush settings and copy them, to see what fits.
