I actually work in a (decent quality) art supply store so all of the materials you listed are good choices. I bet you had fun pronouncing 'guache' when you first began working with that medium. One of the more difficult to control and most underestimated mediums is watercolors/guache/ink. I've only seen this one piece so I'll have to check out the rest of your work. This piece however has unique imagery, content and composition well played, interesting yet successful variance of colorwork, and the fact that the models don't have mouths is almost an indication of your overall inspiration. I'm guessing the fish are synonimous with the women, being viewed, not heard, and only appreciated for their aesthetic quality.
It doesn't always require skills to convey a complex concept beyond an in-depth image but you've pulled off both quite well. It's great to see that you've channelled your undeniable talents to express profound thinking. I never got a chance to read everyone elses commentary so I hope I haven't perpetuated repitious responses. My guess is that when I see the rest of your pieces, this attempted rhetoric will exemplify my appreciation for your surrealist style. Word...

Wow, this is really really boss! Is that a good word, boss? If you don't like it, I can work with "sweet," "awesome," or the rarely unsheathed "exemplary." The colors and mark making make this piece very exciting to look at, and the fish are rendered very well. I wish fish would fly into my pictures once in a while. I would welcome them.

This is really great! Seemingly random and surreal but brought together somehow in a unique and exciting way. Really neat.
I really see Delerium from Gaiman's Sandman series in this piece with the red hair flowing and the floating fish all over the place.

I'm not sure what the meaning of the models have no mouth is, but it looks really cool.
I'm a little confused by the model on the very right. Her left arm seems oddly thin and spaghetti like, and her stomach seems to thick. I think that might be the clothes she's wearing - like the way she's bent, so the dress is hanging off her (at least that's what I think it is).
The fish are soooo lovely and so real.

what did you use for the background? i want to get some gouache but it's so freakin expensive and the ones i'm looking at come in tiny tiny tubes...but you don't need a lot of it, just a tiny squirt. what are the actual dimensions? my project i'm starting on is fairly similar in that it's rectangular, and one of the mediums i'll use is gouache.

Okay the key to gouache is to invest in the colors you def. need and (this is going to sound weird) a butcher's tray. They are sold at most art supply stores and all it is is a metallic pan (its good for acrylics too). You set up your pallet of gouaches on it and it washes like magic afterwards. The great thing about gouache is that you can use it after it dries on the tray, like watercolor. Good luck on your project!
