Description I started using a tutorial for this one, but when I saw I had to have plugins I didn't have, I decided to just use my own techniques instead, particularly for the star (which I already had made). The planet and moon are made using a single color, clouds (for the moon), clouds over the planet, and shape3D for both the planet and the moon. The sun is a mix of two circles (one white, and a larger blue one) using Gaussian blurs. The stars are just noise, and the nebula effect are some clouds colored using a color filter.

It's so beautiful.  I'm thinking of Lux Aurumque right now and it's fitting.

This was what I had in mind, actually, but your link is very good too: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUBbnA… (skip to 1:01)

Also, this is kinda the inspiration for that picture: www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSYwXh…

Ever heard of Freespace?

Nope, but it looks like a classic video game.

Oh, it is that, and much, much more.

Hello   :
You know? this surely is the best space-inspired pic you may have done so far. The colors you used are very precise with the correct ammount of glow (due to reflection of light or albedo) while the dark areas are indeed dark.

You forgot to mention how did you make the shadows on the planet and moon, but maybe those are also settings in the effect?

 Very awesome! .

This was also one of the simplest I ever made. Shape 3D did most of the lighting, and the moon is just 3D cloud layer shrink down. As for the shadow, that was also shape 3D. It comes with its own lighting settings.

The sun is just a pair of Gaussian-blurred circles (white and blue), placed over each other. That part wasn't from the tutorial, that was just me.

The nebula is, as always, a color filter-treated set of clouds with the blend mode set to difference (or was it overlay?)

Of course, the stars are just noise with no color.

And thanks again!

Hello:
Your simplest pic? well, sometimes simpler things are the better things .

I was indeed guessing the program would give you the settings for lightings, it is a good thing that you've got the right angles so the pic looks nice and not odd.

 You are welcome! .

I also drew a version of that planet without the shadows. It isn't as good when you can actually see it. lol

And yes, shape3D (a plugin for paint.net) allows one to adjust the lighting, shading, or whether or not there IS lighting at all.

Hello:
That is great indeed, a surely way to see the program is quite powerful .

Hello:
 Nope, so let me check:

Now I'm back. Oh wow, that looks very nice. The sea is angry with that fog that is a great addition to the pic's atmosphere. Very very nice .
