Description

Even after spending so many years on her own, Samus felt compelled to obey Adam's orders. So when he summoned her back to her ship, she complied without hesitation.

"There you are. Deactivate your power suit," he commanded. Samus obeyed, stripping down to her Zero Suit.

"My men discovered something while searching the research material archives," he told her, "I would like to test it, but we must keep this secret."

Samus nodded. She understood that only the ones he trusted the most could know of this find. She was honored to be among them. The small gun-shaped device looked to be the thing that he was referring to. Noticing her eyes on the weapon, he confirmed it to be the case.

"I would like to test this weapon and understand its capabilities. You are the only candidate for this," Adam told her, pointing the gun at the bounty hunter. Samus gasped.

"It is nonlethal," he clarified, "if the notes are to believed, it doesn't even cause pain."

Samus wondered how such a thing could be useful, but gave him the go-ahead. Adam squeezed the trigger, causing a beam of light to shoot out and bathe her body.

Samus found it caused no pain, or any feeling at all beyond a sinking sensation. Like she were changing into her morph ball, but much slower. She glanced around, seeing the inside of her ship expand, and the consoles rising higher. Yet when she looked downward, she saw her legs and feet to be unchanging. Rather than curling into a ball, it was like she herself was getting smaller.

"It is a shrink ray," Adam confirmed, seeing the realization in her eyes, "it can make anything smaller."

Samus gulped, not happy with being shrunk. But she said nothing, waiting its effects out. She doubted Adam would have used it on her unless he was certain its effects could be reversed. She only stopped shrinking when she had been reduced to a single inch tall.

"Fascinating," Adam marveled. He crouched down, plucking the shrunken Samus off the ground. He then put her down atop a ruler, confirming her size.

"Hmm... but will it work a second time?"

Samus gasped. She had no time to object before he squeezed the trigger again, but gestured defiantly as she shrank once more. She dwindled to truly puny proportions, even those tiny numbers on the ruler utterly dwarfing her miniscule form.

"It can be applied twice for increased effectiveness," Adam confirmed. Samus huffed, crossing her arms. She wished he could see the dissatisfaction on her face.

"The bounty hunter Samus Aran, reduced so small as to be almost invisible," he commented, "but I wonder... will a third application have any effect?"
