Here they are, a bun as old as time.

This is Dr. Sparkles, named by Flannery - what would you expect from a 12-yr-old? They're her "magic rabbit," because, of course, every good magician has to have one. Everyone can see their leaves trailing from out of her hat or from under her magician cape... but pretend not to notice to be polite. Dr. Sparkles just kind of waits patiently. They do have eyes under all those leaves... somewhere... probably.

As the theme name would suggest, they are based on an awesome plant endemic to the Namib Desert! These "living fossils" can survive for hundreds of years in harsh desert conditions, and actually have only two leaves - they just split into many sections as the plant ages!
