Backstory of this is Turles finds out that in the future, he dies "frozen to death", asks his adopted dad what that meant, and was told to seek out the witch Krystalinda (yes, that Krystalinda from DQXI) deep within the Hekswood. There, he meets her in a crystalline graveyard of sorts housing tons of bodies perfectly preserved -- and found his parents among them. Devastated to discover their fate, Turles learns (in a really unpleasant way) that he has the same curse that killed his parents.
