***** Sasha's Penciling Tutorial by sashas
-This tutorial covers the materials, process, and mistakes of the penciling process, and there is even a short step by step demonstration showing how I do my pencil drawings. Although the example is anime, this can really be used for all styles and the methods and steps taken carry outside of the genre. I worked quite hard on this, so I hope you all enjoy it. This tutorial IS reading intense, but it's worth it--I promise.

Graphite? Are regular pencils still useful?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArtistsHospital In reply to RocMegamanX [2007-05-28 00:20:57 +0000 UTC]

Regular pencils are made of graphite too. Art pencils come in a wider range of light/dark, and I'd guess that they're made from higher quality graphite, but yeah -- I practice with regular pencils all the time. I keep a mechanical pencil with my carry-along sketchbook because I don't have to sharpen it. I definitely miss all my other tools when I'm out and about, but for gesture and practice skibbles, it's good enough.
