With so many players on the chessboard, all wanting to have their say, Hackett can only watch from the sideline with his over all perspective, and try to avoid anyone making blatant errors. All the while he wonders how Shepard and Anderson are doing down on Earth. Are they even alive? Last thing he heard, they both were. But things can change so quickly and he knows that well enough.

But as things now are set in motion he doesn't have much control and individual worries must be pushed aside for the greater good and because appearance is everything for a leader in a situation like theirs, where hope and success are hanging by very tiny threads.
