you see when two relatively attractive beings come together to make sweet sweet woopy, a child is usually conceived. And when that child is conceived they are given a genetic code. This tells the cells what they should make or do. Eros's cells, guided by the code, were told to make lady/man bonerfying features.
So I'd say it was genetic. //
