Might not have had an episode this Saturday, but that doesn't mean I can't do episode art right?!Since I'm planning on covering a bunch of the finale (during the Saturday Livestreams), I thought it would be nice to make that what I see a lot and I didn't do last week myself.
I've also seen several folks already expecting a battle scene from me eventually and I guess here it is! Hope I didn't disappoint.
This one was fun to do as always, creating a low camera large scale character. Brings me back to the Timberwolf Emperor I made almost a year ago already. Done plenty other large beasts as well though.
Anyhow, hope y'all enjoy and bathe in the season 4 aftermath. We can fill up this empty time!
PS: I'll put together the time lapse video for this tomorrow or something, need to get those going again.

Edit: Added a 1440p version. I don't know how common it's yet, but if there's enough interest I'll see to saving that size a bit more over time perhaps.

Incredible use of colors to exemplify the mood. Sizes scream accuracy as well as how irrelevant size is to victory, and the detail makes me want to learn how to draw, just to be able to capture such beauty in a single moment.
When I see this I don't just think about the awesome battle that defined the show and separated it from so many others, but I see and feel the strife between good and evil, large and small, and the limits anypony will go to and through to keep themselves and their loved ones safe.
Also, the level of sacrifice one will make to achieve absolute power.

As a whole, this piece is fantastic! The detail in Tirek's hoof really helps to make it a focal point of the picture along with Twilight. Oftentimes I see artists who attempt a low camera angle and fail miserably, but this was pulled off beautifully. I especially enjoy how you can see the thinness and realisticness of Twi's wings. You can see them come horizontally off the body and then curve out.
However, I have two critiques to make. The shading on Twi's body is a bit sloppy, and the position of her left rear leg is unnatural and rather painful looking. It should be bending towards Tirek, but instead appears to actually be turned backwards and facing the camera.
Overall a lovely piece, but the shading and leg anatomy could use some work.

Right off the bat this entire peace screams epic. The detail is second to none and the use of colour, shading and toning works to create a visual master peace that does even better at capturing the shear scale and power of Tirek and Twilight's battle than the episode itself. Tirek himself looks even more menacing and again the peace really does give him a sense of scale, he's no-longer a giant he is a Titan. The detail on Twilight is exceptional really giving her more emotional weight to her character. All in all a truly amazing work of art.

It's simple awesome. Tirek is very tall, and it make he looks like a big(very big) monster. The landscape/background is awesome, making that looks like all Equestria is destroyed. That thing in Tirek head, makes the light get really good. The reflex of the Twilight power in Tirek hoof is good too. And all the details in the hoof.
Now let's talk about Twilight. The Twilight wings are very detailed. The mane getting up with the wind that is passing by is very awesome. In Twilight eyes are a tear? Seems too much with a tear. So, this artwork is awesome, keep up with your amazing art.

Definitely a great piece. You caught the sense of "facing an overwhelming opponent" perfectly, and the dark, desolate background adds a sense of doom looming on the horizon, as if hell itself was approaching. Tirek, being a silhouette, gives him that ancient evil look, as well.
My favorite feature, though, would be that little detail of the tear in Twilight's eye. That just perfectly portrays her feelings of rage and desperation, fighting an enemy that doesn't want to just cause chaos, or enslave, but destroy. He was the first true evil she had ever faced.
Excellent work. I look forward to more.

One thing for sure is that this magnificent drawing has a lot emotion presented to the viewer.
What I mean by emotion: one how you made the background scene, like how you made the amber sky fit with the character and the moment. Second: how made the depth and scale of things, as for the characters anyway. you've shown this in the big guy (forgot his name, so dis on me all you want), and compare him to Twilight, you give the viewer how monstrous the villain is. Finally, how much emotion you where able to give Twilight, the sadness expressed in her face says a lot.
Over all I really enjoyed this picture. I will always enjoy what new things you put out on DeviantArt.

I thought this was a kids show... I was so wrong, bronies. That s4 finale... oh my gosh it got so intense and that battle scene Twilight v.s Tirek was soooo epic. When I first finally got the finale for the first time I was like, "this is definitely not a kids show anymore." Then again revenge is sweet.
