Description
A 'repaint' I did using Instructions for Armada Hoist downloaded from Hasbro's official Transformers website, [link]The first member of the impossible-to-complete-with-Arm/Eng-mold s “Gestalt Project” Constructicon team, here is Scavenger. With most of the members of the Constructicon team, it’s pretty obvious which molds they belong with, and Scavenger here is no exception. He was a basic, plain ol’ backhoe, and the Armada Hoist mold makes a great updated, ‘modern/futuristic’ backhoe for him. It’s also plenty tough/evil looking (a good reason this mold, along with the identical face, makes such a good BW Dinobot Homage) in both modes to make a good Decepticon. I don’t know WHAT it is about them, but the Constructions Color scheme has a unique trait to me. It’s an unusual combination of colors, yet it just works SO well on ANY mold it’s given too (I even love it on PL Cyclonus and Enegon (Arm) Demolishor). It’s the quintessential “Decepticon” color scheme. That being said, it is absolutely PERFECT for any and every Construction vehicle in TF history. Any and all of them can be repainted into Constructicon colors and look absolutely beautiful in my opinion. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, heh. Well, anyways, Armada and Energon seem to be making good on their construction vehicles and ALL of them would look awesome in Constructicon colors.
His Minicon was a little difficult. I tried to keep with the earlier trend of naming a Gestalt groups Minicons after a likewise themed Micromaster team. There’s plenty of Decepticon Construction Micromasters, but nothing even close to what Refute is. So, I had to stretch a bit. I decided to go with “Stonecruncher”, because that name fit his vehicle form so well. Now, G1 Stonecruncher was the front of a Decepticon Construction Combiner, and basically, all he is is the front of a truck with a hook/crane system on it’s roof. Frankly, I think the name fits this Minicon much better, heh. Refute luckily is one of the few partner Minicons with the unique feature of having his primary color NOT a part of the main bot. This means you can color him just about anyhow, and it’ll have no effect on the main bot. I tried to mimic the color scheme the original Stonecruncher had, which was quite loud, bright, and garish. I don’t think it looks particularly good on the Minicon, and it SURE as hell doesn’t match up with the main bot colorwise now, but at least he stayed true to being a Stonecruncher homage.

Hey, that does look good. I kinda regret not picking up this figure, I might not have passed him up if he were Scavenger. Plus, I think Refute is one of my fav Minicons I don't own.

Really? I kinda think Refute is one of the suckier minicons personally, heh. But the Hoist mold is pretty damn cool. Definitly one of the better new molds that came out of Armada at the tail end there, IMHO. Of course, it would have been infinatly better had it been a constructicon...

I hesitated with Hoist mainly because I want hands. 2 hands per robot, I always say.

Heh. I can see where you're coming from. We mustn't have any more transforming abortions like the Nightbeat minicon, can we? Still though, there are a few exceptions to the rule, I think, and Hoist qualitifed for one. Besides, he may not have a 5-fingered fist, but he still has a claw hand with an opposable thumb, and if G1 Brawn can get away with his clamps hands, Hoist can get away with his.

Now THIS I've been waiting to see for quite some time now.
'Brilliant' is the only thing that comes to mind. And your right about these colors being THE construction vehicle colors for the Transformers toy line. I can hardly wait to see what Hook and Long Haul are gonna look like now... for which you're late in posting. Hmm, slacking off, are we? Bah! It makes no never mind. You'll post'em eventually, so that's good enough for me.

Inncorrect!
But, you do win our runner up prize...a one year supply of free bank calanders. Congradulations!
And I'm glad ya like it and agree on the construction vehicle thing. I know Hasbro has this thing against releasing things with similar paint schemes, but sometimes, you just need a little unity, and the constructions are the perfect case for that. D'ah well, we'll never see the day, not unless Hasbro finally hires me, heh. Stupid 'rules'.

Blank calenders? Are these the kind with nudey pics and no dates or just empty page after page of calendar-sized sheets of paper?

No, not "Blank" calanders, I said "BANK" calanders. You know, the cheap little cheesy, boring and generic calenders banks give away for free (cause they're so crappy). Yeah, you win a year suply of that (knows that adds up to just 1 calander, hehe)

Yeah, as a cartoon, TF: Armada kinda pretty much blew. Most of the toys were pretty good though, and that what I base a TF series/saga on personally. Energon seems to be turning innto a pretty good series, both as a cartoon and toyline in my opinion.
And I agree with you on the older TF's. In my opinion, nothing's come close to the G1 series in story telling or toys. There's just something special about them. And I don't know why, but i'm still saddened/disapointed that NONE of the later TF shows even came close to the characterization of G1 (With the posible exception of Beast Wars). They keep the 'cast' as small as possible in these new series, hoping to 'develope' the core characters, yet back in the G1 series, they had a billion characters, and everyone got their own unique, characterization, as well as their own personal 'moment in the sun' and we've yet to see anything like that since. Kind of sad really. One of the reasons I think they need to bring the TF cartoon series back to the US, and let US write it, and then translate it into Japanese like they did back then, rather then the oposite way it's done now. D'ah well. That's just me rambling...

yeah u'r absolutely right. I have seen Energon website, doesn't look that bad, and for TF sake I really hope this is not as bad as armada. however, another thing I didn't like, why did they use the name of characters from old TF eg Blur, RedAlert, Wheeljack etc, i mean come on, I can understand that with Megatron and Optimus (well Megatron looks a bit different but... I can understand that too since he did looked a bit dull in the oroginal) but with everyone else... if they gonna have a NEW storyline, use new names for crying out loud, and if they gonna use old name, at least make their characteristic same as what they use to be... Blur... wtf, COMPLETE oppsite personality...sigh, let's just hope Energon is actually as good as u said it to be

Personally, I like that they keep using names/character homage’s from old g1, though I do agree with you that if they're going to reuse a name or something, it needs to at least partially resemble the old char. Blurr for example. I loved the Armada Blurr char, he's one of the few Armada personalities I thought was cool, but you're right, he was nothing like the old Blurr. He reminded me much more of someone like Devcon, the bounty hunter character from the old g1 cartoon.
And have you not seen Energon yet? It’s about half over here in the states, and it’s much better then armada. Some people say it’s the best TF series since beast wars. I’m not sure how I’d rank it, but its definitely a vast improvement to Armada, and shows that the TF cartoon is on the right track once again.
