Description Cosmic Trinity ~ Divine Star
©2012 Michael C. Turner ~ Galactic Visions Space Art

A rare alignment of stars and their host of celestial bodies create an inspirational iconic vista in a multiple star system located in one of the outer arms of a remote spiral galaxy. Three of the companion stars/suns align with the fourth primary star/sun creating a dual triangular visual configuration as the primary star appears to provide unity of the three companion stars as well as manifest its intensity to the terrestrial class planet in the foreground.

The Cosmos is filled with wonders beyond imagination. Since ancient times the night sky has inspired innumerable minds to ponder the mysteries of the Cosmos. Inevitably, sentient beings must leave the terrestrial home cradle to explore distant celestial frontiers. Celestial events were often regarded as heralds of divine interaction with the mortal world. Every ancient civilization created myths and legends to relate such Cosmic events to human history through the spoken and/or written word. The ancient Hebrew people were closely linked with nature and their religious literature is filled with accounts of God speaking to humans through iconic natural terrestrial and celestial events. The most notable celestial event, The Star Of Bethlehem (The Christmas Star), herald the birth of the promised Messiah, Jesus Christ. Ancient learned astrologers or astronomers called Magi or Wise men charted and followed this celestial messenger to Bethlehem so that they might worship this divine star, the child of prophecy, the newborn King of the Jews, Jesus Christ. The birth of Jesus Christ was unique if for no other reason than in no other accounts of any civilization has a divine birth commanded such global attention throughout the millennia. More significantly, it chronicles God, the Creator Father, transcending the spiritual world to become mortal flesh in Christ, The Son, in the physical world. This was indeed the Divine Cosmic Trinity of God The Father, Christ The Son and the manifestation of The Holy Spirit.

. . . And The Word Was Made Flesh And Dwelt Among Us . . . (KJV)

Below is the inside verse of this year's Christmas card.

Across Cosmic realms of space and time,
your Divine Star does shine.

Dispersing the darkness, dispelling the night,
with love divine and not with might.

Your infinite mind conceived a plan sublime,
a star to show your mind divine.

A cosmic message for each mortal race,
to seek your love and behold your divine face.

Star Divine, Jesus Christ, Conceived In Eternity,
Divine Star Manifesting Your Cosmic Trinity . . .

May The Divine Star, Jesus Christ,
Manifest Within You The Cosmic Trinity.

My friend that is so beutiful. What traditional methods did you use, any airbrush? or was that light applied dry brushing for the star glow?

Greetings My Friend,

Thank you most kindly for your comment and for including "Cosmic Trinity ~ Divine Star" in your favourites. I do not use the airbrush for any of my art. I used a cobination of dry brushing and glazing to create the effects on a very fine linen canvas (36" x 60"). I conditioned the canvas first with several smooth coats of acrylic. You can only detect the canvas texture at very close range from a lighted side angle. As you know, viewed in person such texture is esthetic however, the same effect isn't true when photographed. I did adjust the image lighting and contrast to approximate how the painting looks when properly lit and viewed directly.

I'm not one for scripture, being a complete atheist, but I do love this painting. It has a serenity to it, the stars are beautiful. It's gentle and peaceful. As I can't feel the religious feelings behind the painting I will take its peace and serenity and enjoy it in my own way. Thank you Michael for another beauty x x x

Greetings Lucy,

I appreciate you sharing your feelings about this painting with me. I would like to think that the gentle and peaceful feeling this painting creates in you is not so much my work but of a greater power. I respect your personal feelings and say this with great sincerity and true humility. The more I learn of the Cosmos the more certain I am that the greatest mind of all conceived and created it. I don't expect you or anyone else to believe that simply because I say it. I resent dogmatic personalities, especially false Christians who insist that everyone should think and believe exactly as they do. Unfortunately, much evil has been done in the name of religion however, I contend that is the work of false practioners who use religion to their personal advantage. Many professing atheist do not realize that atheism itself is a belief system and they too can be just as dogmatic as misguided Christians and or other religious followers. The fact that you can still appreciate my space art even though you do not agree with my religious convictions speaks admirably of your personal code of ethics. My space art is in reality a manifestation of my religious experience or, as I prefer, my personal faith and I truly feel my inspiration and "visions of space" come directly from the Creator of the Cosmos that we both love and seek to better understand.

Kind regards,

Michael C. Turner

I have to slightly disagree, my atheism is based on a lack of a belief system rather than atheism being a,belief system in itself. I respect everybody's right to believe in their Gods and practice their faith. Your paintings are amazing Michael and If your faith is the inspiration for your art, I wouldn't want you to change anything. Great art has been created through inspiration from peoples faith. Much love to you x x

Greetings Lucy,

I do appreciate you sharing your perspective and I certainly respect your right to live by your own values. I understand what you are saying and yet would you not agree that one must to some extent base their "disbelief" in any deity in the belief that there is no deity....? Out of respect for you I shan't banter the issue any further for I do indeed believe that each person must be at peace with their own choices and would never force such a precious choice on you or anyone. I am indeed honored that you appreciate my art regardless of my personal belief system and that you respect my choice of inspiration for creating my space art. Your own art exhibits a true love of the great wonders of the Cosmos and that is why I appreciate your superb creations. I will share with you that I am not among the religious zealots that contend the Universe/Cosmos is only a few thousand years old and that science is the creation of the devil. I have never found that true science (not simply speculation and or theory) disagrees with any traditional Biblical text even though the Bible is a book of faith and inspiration and not scientific knowledge. In fact, it is apparent that the known Universe is at least billions of years old and I believe that is a most conservative estimate relative to its likely actual age of an unimaginable exponential number for the actual Cosmos. Rather than making me doubt the existence of God, such a concept makes me have much greater faith in God. I realized long ago that since God conceived, designed and brought together the forces that created the Cosmos that such a creation would reflect the infinite mind of this divine being. To expect anything less would be ignorant of the mirror which reflects the nature of both God and his magnum opus, the Cosmos.

I wish you peace, love and happiness always . . .

Michael

Greetings,

Thank you for asking. Most of my paintings, including this one, are created using traditional bristle brush and acrylic paint techniques on stretched cloth canvas. I spend myriad hours, days, months on my paintings until I feel I have created a painting that will have a positive effect on viewers.

Compared to some others I've seen you do, the composition of this one is a bit weak. I feel like there's all this empty space that could be used up with bigger cosmic bodies. However, I just love the colors and the way you depict light and the way it bounces off the planet. That is always one thing I admire about all of your space art. You've done better in the past, but I still love to look at this one. ^_^

Greetings,

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I am sorry "Cosmic Trinity ~ Divine Star did not meet your expectations from me and that you feel this painting is weak although, that is indeed your right to express how a work of art affects you. My intentions are not to try to make each painting better, the same or weaker for I simply create the images/visions that I see and feel within. I do not flag my submissions for detailed critques for in all honesty I have no need for them. I realize that novice artists may need critiques to assist them in developing their artistic skills and individuality. I developed mine long ago via personal experience and interpsection. I of course always wish to know how my art affects people and I do indeed welcome your comments for I feel your comments are sincere and not simply crticism and or flattery.

I wish you and yours the best of God's most bountiful blessings this Christmas and throughout the coming New Year.

Yes, of course I understand that not every artist's work is always better than the last. I too know this from personal experience. I didn't mean to sound too critical. I do still like this painting, I'm just saying I've seen better use of the format before is all. ^_^

Greetings,

Thank you for taking the time to view my painting and commenting . . .

Jesus Christ is actually the King of the Universe/Cosmos. He was, is and shall ever be the King Of Heaven. My reference to King of the Hebrews/Jews was in regards to the scriptural text which of course represented Christ as the King of the Jews, and he indeed was, just not in the mortal sense of the word nor of the expectaions of the Jews in their anticipated Messiah.

He is also King of the Jews, the title is used in all four Gospels. When he is crucified the inscription above his head, INRI. Which means, Jesus of Nazarene, King of the Jews...

Actually, that inscription was mocking him, because the Hebrews really thought he was their king.

ACTUALLY, that inscription was put there by the Romans, the Pharisees asked to have it changed to "He thinks he was King of the Jews". But, it wasn't. Honestly, the term Hebrew is synonymous with Jew, so why are you making a distinction? We're both right.
