The .500 is an insane round... Rather have it in .45-.70

Well, that model uses the S&W 500 frame, so it made sence to go with the S&W .500 cartride...but I'm sure the design could be reworked for .45-70.

Actually it IS a real weapon. I forget who made them, but they where used BRIEFLY in the US civil war. The issue was that if the soldier wasnt wearing cavalry gloves, the hand in front would get the splash of the black powder from the imperfect chamber fit to the barrel section. Shards of metal too. They looked alittle different, but fairly close. Also, the Lamatt revolver fired a shotgun slug as well from its second barrel.

Most of the major gun makers (Colt, Remington etc..) made revolver rifles. Yeah, like you said powder burns were common. I've also heard a rumor that LeMat made a rifle version...but I've never been able to confirm that.

You know... I heard this a while back when I wanted to do something... modeling off an old western version of this... that there were ballistic problems which made this unpopular.... can't remember the exact details right now.

Yeah, that and the old black powder loads had a habit of a 'sympathetic discharge' which would REALLY mess up your brace hand.

Hey, I was wondering if you would mind if I used this design as a weapon for a character I've got. I needed something that looked really sturdy 'cus he uses a rifle as a melee weapon, and this thing looks like it don't break. Thought I'd ask first though.
Please?

Thank you so much. I tried to get someone to make me one in an art trade but... yeah, it didn't work out so much. Thanks for that!
