This is the drawing of Bula I did a few days ago, but this is already painted! This is a tribute to Wolfgang Galindo too, the dubbing actor who does Bula's voice in spanish, he does an exceptional job!!

I saw this show while I was waiting for my hair cut... It was unusually appealing for a kid's show these days.
And this picture looks fantastic!

Thanks ever so much!!!! I really apreciate it!!
I made that drawing a long time ago and nobody came to see it before!! Zula Patrol isn't on TV now, in mexico where I live, the show was removed and I don't know why. I saw the show in 2007 when my family and me were on vacations to Oaxaca (we didn't have TV cable at that time and we saw the show at the hotel ) I arrived at Oaxaca and I was stressed by school and work and because in vacations my brothers do many pranks and my mom put me in charge. Also, I hate the trips by car and and I thought in my vacations the best thing will be going shopping! But then I knew The Zula Patrol! I watched it only the 3 days we were on vacation, but it removed my stress!! it's one of the best things to remove stress!!
That show it's very understated because it is on NatGeo and Me, but it's brilliant!! So funny, so witty, it promotes values (so forgotten in our planet) and teaches about sciences in an amazing, pleasant way, with creativity and a subtle humor. The music, the space scenes, the dialogues, the theme intro song are very well done, it speaks about science in a cool way!! Also it promotes values (so forgotten these days) like how important it is to work as a team, and accept when you need help, and diplomacy; on how to troubleshoot problems or situations by choosing negotiation instead of violence, the series shows that asking for help is the best you can do, and teaches you to believe in yourself. And as you said, isn't like most of "Kids shows"; it teach lessons and morals but they're not presented like "In your face" as usally do Kids shows, . The show entertain to babies, make kids smarter, isn't boring to adults when they watch it with their children, and it have enough ingenuity and creativity as not to shame and make flee to teenagers!
And the characters are expepcionalmente are well structured, they aren't like in other kids shows (who are not recommended where the characters act as mentally retarded, and people sometimes can't mention it and they says they are like "Babies") because the characters are young adults who teach children the best way to develop and take their place in society as ADULTS, and so they're not an insult to kids intelligence. They really inspire you to become part of science, it does not matter if you're a child or not, you really feel their passion for science!! and when you see the show invariably want to investigate further! They're so cool and together they form an excellent crew! a full crew, worthy of one of NASA'S missions!!; the Captain Bula, the Pilot Zeeter, the Scientist Multo, and Wizzy and Wigg, experts in communication!
Captain Bula is one of my fave characters in the show, I love him a lot because he's clever, brave honest, modest, and kind, he's a great leader!! He has an insatiable curiosity and the heart of an intrepid explorer!! He's so optimist!! andalways sees the best in others, and he teaches children to do well ... and find joy in even the darkest of situations. He believes that sometimes a little bit of help can be the difference. Bula often relies on his instincts, and his instincts in a long-term are almost always correct. He believes in himself, and by doing it, teaches children to believe in themselves....and he's got a deliciously sexy voice....that can melt the poles....In English and Spanish!!!Like Proffesor multo, who is a cheerful and outgoing scientist, he's my other fave.

You're right about most kids shows presenting morals in an "in your face" way. It's like the moral is the only reason the show is put on tv. I think sometimes they forget that tv shows are supposed to ENTERTAIN!!!
And yes, I also hate all these mentally retarded characters; I never found them cute. Just annoying. And cheap, too; anyone can make a stupid character; it's a little more interesting when a character has a wide variety of personality traits, instead of just focusing in on one...
And Bula indeed has a sexy voice
This is certainly a charming show in many ways. The channel it's on (I forget what it's called) shows some other pretty good shows, like Jane and the Dragon, which aren't built around stupidity and obnoxiousness.

At first thanks or the fave, thank also for answering, I'm so glad that you've answered my message, I would like to respond sonner, but I had a very tight timetable for the work and classes in my beauty course. you certainly are right about most of kids show characters, who act like stupid, they are very pretty annoying and in fact, they're actually DANGEROUS, because they show to children a world where everything is smooth and easy, and everything is "pink". And when children discover that it doesn't like that way, and the that world has its ups and downs, it's is like to shed them a huge bucket of icy water on a summer day! That's why teenagers hate this kind of shows, it's just something that alludes to their instinct for survival. Some people are taught to children that the world sucks, but that also isn't the idea I think they have to know the truth, to know that not everything it's good, not everything is bad, everything has it's good things and it's setbacks, and Zula Patrol handled that so well! This show has many superb metaphors, that more than just good manners and morals, are a greatest help to real life! to survive, and they aren't presented in a "In your face" way, but subtly and enjoyable, because this show also take care to ENTERTAINTMENT for kids, as you said.
Usually in kids shows, moral is presented at that way because many adults think that's the only way in wich children can understand it. They want it becomes "easy" to understand, but instead of being easy it becomes a true toothache, because kids see it as something "mandatory" and feel that they push it to them by force, as to put a huge bunch of toys in a very small cupboard. Zula Patrol doesn't do that, and there is another show that I recently started to watch, and it's also so Witty and so funny, so awesome and has excellent methaphors, and characters with many with varied and very well done personalitieslike Zula; it's called Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, if you take a look to my gallery you will found some drawings from characters with little thoughts about the show, specially Wilt, one of my faves.
I was pleasantly impressed when I read you were agree with me about Bula's voice, really...I thought that nobody had noticed it!! and it was just me I'm so glad that I'm not the only one! Bula's voice is so beautiful! it's spontaneous, fresh and manly, it emulates a lot of energy, confidence and safety, so it's perfect for the GREAT leader he is; in fact, this is one of the few shows that I've seen, which has voices very well suited to the characters. Bula's voice sounds like a lead male actor in a raido soap, and it's incredibly sexy!!!....it's the perfect male voice! I think all men should have a voice like this!
When I saw your comment I was so happy, and I wanted to look for info about it, and I found some clips in English that inspired me to made this [link] and I realized that even there is one with dubbing! my friend Wolfang put it. You can take a look to the clip [link] and you will see that voices are very similar. When I was uploading the drawing I was very excited, also I didn't had much time, so I forgot to mention it, but this is dedicated to you!
I saw only a few clips on YouTube in English, but I really enjoyed watching them, specially this [link] from chapter "Going through a Phase" where Bula turned into a Zulean Were-mouse. That episode looks very interesting, I would like to see how bula used his "Were-Mouse powers" to save his friends, and how he get free from the Were-Mouse curse. I love the scene when bula don't believed that, and Multo gives him cheese and he acts as a mouse, it was SO funny because Bula didn't believe him until Multo gave him cheese, I loved Multo's expression, and bula's like-mice behavior along with his "woa" was very sexy....I don't know why! Don't ask me! XDDDD
The bad thing is that here in mexico I no longer watch the show, I have not seen it on TV and I think it was removed, and it would help me to watch it in Spanish because sometimes I don't understand what they say, my English isn't so good yet. For example in this chapter I didn't understand Bula's dialogue "is there any cure" until I repeated the video like 3 times! and I don't know to write Multo's phrase, the one he said when he was discovered that a bula were a mouse. Can you help me to know what is the phrase?

I wish more male kid's show character's had sexy voices... And not Mickey Mouse imitations... lol...
I remember when I was a kid I didn't even like Mickey Mouse. I thought the characters and the whole world they lived in was just too "magical" for it's own good. I liked Dysney Movies like The Little Mermaid but I just thought Mickey Mouse was kind of stupid (no offense if you happen to like him!!!)
Your comment about shows making the world seem all rainbows and lollipops to get really touched me! It's true that teenagers hate this stuff because they look at it after all the pain they've been through with things like break ups, divorces, failing classes and stuff and think, "This is NOT the way the world works!!!" Plus I agree that they wouldn't hate kid shows so much if they weren't raised thinking that all your dreams will come true if you just believe. Most of the kid shows that I still like have a certain hint of reality to them.
But kids are easily entertained... Give 'em bright colors, lots of movement and silly catchphrases and 90% of them will be hooked, so I can see why a lot of producers don't really want to make any changes. Plus they're afraid of trying anything new at the risk of wasting money... Sigh... It always comes down to money in the end...
